Hi, Just joined VU after seeing on the retailer I buy my supplies from. I have been vaping for about 4 years, seriously for 3 and exclusively for a year now. I smoked for 50 years. I was a 3 pack a day smoker and quit cold turkey when I finally felt like I had to quit smoking or quit breathing. I quit smoking for 5 years. Never a waking moment passed that I didn't want a cigarette. I wasn't really quit, either. Several times a month I would sneak a smoke in "just to prove I wasn't hooked". Finally I fell with some smoking friends, and just gave up. I went immediately back to my 3 pack a day habit. I knew how bad it was for me, and after about a year, I heard about "e-cigs". I decided to try try them out.
All I could find were NJoys. They were pretty terrible, but I stuck with them because they were better than cigarettes. right? I had just about decided I would rather die from smoking when I discovered the cheap EGo kits. After I learned a bit about juice and temp and airflow, I got vaping to a pleasurable passtime and actually reduced my habit by 2/3's. I vaped in the house and went outside to smoke. About 18 months ago I got my first MVP 20W. I vape non stop... that was a huge change for me with vape through charge ability. I bought another MVP and started the habit of vaping one while the other charged. I would fill my tank and change my battery, that way I always had a good battery, with back-up for my phone if I had an emergency with a dead phone. About a year ago, I got to the point, again, where I knew I had to quit smoking or quit breathing.
This time, I laid cigarettes down and didn't look back; no cravings and no regrets. I haven't had a cigarette in over a year. When I quit, my average blood/oxygen concentration was down to about 86%, and I truly felt like I was dying. By the time I was quit for 6mo, my SpO2 was back up to 99%. The damage is done. I don't have the lung capacity I should, but if I don't over exert, what I have left is working like it should. I have now gotten to where I can't stand to be around cigarettes.
My twin still smokes, and I can't stand to spend much time around him. I am glad he doesn't come to visit more often, because he smokes in my house (even though he doesn't smoke in his own home). Having smoked for 50 years, I don't say anything because I know how I used to feel, but you'd think he might get a clue.
A few months ago I got an eLeaf, iStick 30 and a 510 thread, Subtank Mini. I actually like it a lot better than the EGo thread, Mini Protanks I have been using. I vape 100%PG at 10mg of nic. I make my own juice.
