Can I sub the Black Fire with anything HIC? I have a few other FA tobaccos lying there unopened
No other FA flavor is similar to Black Fire. I wouldn't be surprised if other brands have something like it, though.

Ok well it will just have to be another flavour added to the neverending list. No other branded baccy flavours in the vault. Just when I got the wanted purchase list down to one remaining flavour tooNo other FA flavor is similar to Black Fire. I wouldn't be surprised if other brands have something like it, though.

Just one flavoring on your purchase wish list! I'm not sure I'll ever get there - which is a ridiculous statement, considering how many I've accumulated.
Thank you for taking the time to be so kind!(this is probably my only post because typing in english is hard work, but I needed to say that

This recipe doesn't mimic any particular brand of cigarette. It's mild, plain cig flavor that satisfies me when I'm craving a cigarette:
HIC's Light American Cig Replacement
2-2.5% FlavourArt Cuban Supreme tobacco
0.5% FlavourArt Black Fire
0.25-0.5% FlavourArt Burley tobacco
0.25-0.5% FlavourArt Oakwood
(lowest percents listed for 'ultra-light' cig flavor; highest percents for 'light' cig flavor)
I smoked "light" American cigarettes, none of those expensive brands or fancy imports. I can't stand cigar or pipe flavor/aroma, so I'm a tobacco wimp in the vaping world. If strong tobacco vapes give you nightmares, we have similar tastes. If FA's 7 Leaves or MaxxBlend are too sweet for you or not enough like your old light cigarette, give this recipe a shot.
This is a neutral, smooth, light-brown tasting tobacco vape (from the Cuban Supreme) with a tiny background hint of familiar-tasting darker tobacco (from the Burley) and a light touch of realistic tobacco smoke on the exhale (from the Black Fire). Oakwood at this percent does not add flavor, just dries and de-sweetens the subtle vanilla from Cuban Supreme.
It's mild tobacco flavor with enough interest and complexity to enjoy for long vaping sessions. There's no caramel, spice, anise, cocoa, honey, or weird notes of food flavors, nothing 'obnoxious' in the flavor or the vapor trail. The subtle dry-woody-vanilla bit in the exhale can further masked with extra Black Fire, if you wish. I like it there - it's similar enough to a cig to crush my cravings, but the hint of dry vanilla in the exhale is more pleasant to me than the black-ashiness of real cigs.
When you have a cig craving, there's no time to waste, so this recipe was designed to shake and vape. No steeping rituals are needed - it's smooth and mild immediately after mixing.
note, Oct 2015: I used to list Black Fire here at 0.5 - 1%. I think most people will prefer just 0.5%, even if increasing the other flavorings.
TFA menthol is what I use to make a menthol cig. Usually maybe 10 drops to my usual 25ml cigarette recipes. I also add Inawera Eucalyptus W/Mint sometimes to change things up.Could I use that to make a Menthol Cig Juice? If yes what would you add?
Could I use that to make a Menthol Cig Juice? If yes what would you add? I got TFA Menthol, Koolada and FA Peppermint
It is also great as a 1 % addition to your White Mints recipe.@DIYjim - I'm also a fan of Inawera Eucalyptus-Mint. I like it standalone when I have a head cold!
I don't suppose there is any viable alternative to the Oakwood? It isn't listed on the FlavourArt UK site, and I am unable to source it in any of the concentrate suppliers I have tried. Would the FlavourArt Virginia work.
Ah, thanks for the heads up on the TFA Red Oak. I'll dial up the Cuban Supreme and the Burley to fill the hole left by the Oakwood.Oakwood is here just to give a dry effect & take out a little of the sweetness, so NO - Virginia can't sub for it. Better to just leave out Oakwood & use the higher listed amount of Cuban Supreme and/or Burley.
(TFA has a Red Oak, but it would add sweetness here. Thought I'd mention that, since the similar name can lead people to assume they're more alike than they really are.)
You're so awesome for helping your dad quit! Please let me know if it does the trick or if I can help in any way. Quitting cigs was impossible for me before vaping - I hope he finds it's the solution for him, too.Thank you for sharing this HIC, just might've saved my dads life with this one. He's trying to make the switch. Will be ordering these flavors and mixing it soon.

He loves this, I wanted to let you know, and say thanks again. Mixed up a 10 ml batch @ 18mg nic. He tried it and said "Wow, that's awesome! Tastes like a cigarette!" He loves the light earthy tobacco note. I tried it too and now I have to make some @ 3mg for my subtank.
One question please. I have some fa vanilla bourbon in my stash too. Would that be suitable to add for a vanilla kick?
Hi all, as a person who prefers a tobacco flavoured vape, I have found this to be very good for a tobacco made from concentrates (I usually steep my own NETs). Following is how I prefer HIC's recipe for a Marlboro type flavour:
Marlboro
FA Cuban Supreme 2.50%
FA Burley 0.75%
FA Black Fire 0.50%
FA Oakwood 0.50%
For a Camel type flavour:
Camel
FA Tuscan Reserve 2.00%
FA Burley 0.50%
FA Black Fire 0.50%
FA Oakwood 0.50%
FA Desert Ship Blend 0.25%
I find both have a more mature flavour with some ageing, the Marlboro one I am using today was mixed on 30th July '16, pretty bloody good Thank you HIC for your generosity in posting this.
* Note though that I haven't actually smoked Marlboros or Camels for about 20 years and am going on memory and my taste buds
No, I didn't steep as HIC said it was a shake and vape. Gonna let what I have sit for a week and go back to it.Mark, are you ageing the mix before using it? I prefer 2 to 3 weeks ageing, allows the flavours to meld together correctly (IMO).
To be fair, this is a variant of HIC's recipe not mineThank you for this reciepe HIC, it was smooth and nice.
I did a little tweeking with it and made this: (a GT_1955 variant, as I did not have FA Desert Ship Blend)
HIC/GT_1955 Camel variant
FA Tuscan Reserve 2.00%
FA Burley 0.50%
FA Black Fire 0.25%
FA Oakwood 0.25%
INW S'Camel 1.5%
For the first time I actually liked a e-juice made from/with the INW S'Camel (wich is one of the few INW's I for some reason don't get along with well).
Next time I'll add some INW DNB (0,5 - 1 %) to give it a tad more ashy character.
It's been a week mate, how did you go?Markw4mms said:No, I didn't steep as HIC said it was a shake and vape. Gonna let what I have sit for a week and go back to it.
Ok who has this flavor? I've searched ECX and BCV and couldn't find it.If I wanted it like a menthol cig, I'd pick TFA Menthol, probably 0.5% or 1%.

Thanks, I'll check it out.I found it on TFA's web site. Menthol
Thanks, I'll check it out.
I finally got around to making this (mixed per the OP recipe) my wife said it has a "green leaf" taste to it that isn't appealing to her.
Do you think this recipe is ok for me? Or could I tweak it to get a Red Marlboro?
I intend on trying this mix for my mom. She loves Reds, but I'm noticing that people are saying that Cuban Supreme has a green leaf note. Is there a way to counteract this? I'm not sure she'll like that aspect. Also, this is a light cig recipe. What could I do to make this a 100 or full flavor as I think this will be more appealing to her.

FA Max Blend is supposed to be a Marlboro flavor, but it doesn't really taste like one to me.
If you're using this recipe, Burley is brown tobacco flavor. The higher percents listed here plus an extra 0.25% Burley might do what you want - I think better than Max Blend.
Canadian cigs use a lot of Virginia tobaccos; American cigs use more Burley. If you want a more Canadian flavor, you could add 0.25% of FA Virginia. BUT in my opinion, that flavor really needs some steep time, even such a tiny bit of it. I avoided it here because I wanted something shake-and-vapeable.

i did miss post 43 somehow, but I did save the recipes in post 108. My only concern is the aforementioned "green leaf" note in Cuban Supreme. Have you noticed this? And, if so, do you know something to counteract it?Below is from post 43 on this thread. You can also try the recipe in post 108
This is from post 108:
I didn't know that
It's a pity. I hope he is wellYeah, I haven't seen a post from HIC in probably 7 or 8 months. He just kind of vanished...
