Ok need some knowledge have a smok treebox plus 220watt mod i bought it because I like a nice peice of wood lol and my istick Pico wouldn't fit my new big baby beast but once I put the baby on my treebox with the pre-installed coil that had been all juiced up for 3 weeks before my mod showed up set it to 50 watts took my first vape and the coil fried instantly I thought I was going to die. Replaced with an identical coil gave 5 min to prime drop-down to 40watts it burnt out after 2 or three hits. Tryed another coil I bought a box at the sametime I bought the baby and same result went to the 3 banger that came with the baby and at 25 watts got about a day out of it. Went to the rta deck and that just opened a new can of worms. So bought the ijoy exo xl tank to replace the baby. But my problem wasn't solved this time while taking a hit a very hot burst filled my mouth I looked down the drip tip and the coil was on fire. I pulled the tank of blew out the flame removed my batteries and havent touched the treebox since. The only thing I can think of is there is somthing wrong with the mod or its the batteries. They are brand new lg hd2c 20amp 3.6v 2100mah (LGDAHD2C) is it a bad idea to run high drain batteries in a regulated mod i asked a bunch of vape sights and they said that is a great battery for that mod where they wrong?

Nothing wrong with using those, but they have a low MaH rating for a 20A battery. I'd say something is wrong with the mod. If your coil is juiced, no way it should catch fire. And since it's happened with more than one tank and coil, I would rule them out. Send that fucker back to SMOK.

All I can tell you is it is definitely not the battery. That battery should work great and no way it will fry a coil. It sounds to me like the mod's circuitry is defective.
Unfortunately I'm dealing with efun and there on vacation till 2/5 after there Chinese New year it's so hard dealing with people that you can't actually speek to I've been trying to get this problem fixed for about a month now. The treebox does ok with my goon rda but I couldn't figure out why the vape was never consistent

That's because the HD2C are not 20A.

Hard to understand what's wrong from your description but it's not the batteries fault, there is either something wrong with the mod or with your settings.

AS for battery life, with such low wattage you are better off with 3000mAh 20A batteries like: Samsung 30Q, Sony VTC6, LG HG2.

Mod chipset not reading the resistance of the coil right and/or supplying to much voltage than needed for a set wattage. Coil 1 having sat so long in waiting soaking in juice, should have been no reason it should have burnt out right off the bat, even with the thickest juice that coil was well saturated. SMOK makes some very decent, though to high powered tanks (need to much power to function properly), still even at lower watts they perform well for most people. Their mods though, I'll put it lightly, they are batting average of about 150, they have had a lot of problems from their mods, only stellar performer they have right now is the Alien 220W, which I imagine uses the same chip as the Treebox, so the board should perform just as stellar as the Alien. I'm with @gakudzu send that thing back to SMOK for a refund, take that money at look at getting maybe at least a DNA200 or DNA250 wood or stabilized wood mod, will be pricey but at least for the expense you have a Cadillac of a control board running the mod that is reliable and dependably predictable.

So what is the amp of the battery that's what the literature says it is? And as far as settings go how hard is it to set it to soft 50 watts and basically have what tasted like a smoldering bonfire in my mouth. And the only reason I'm running such low watts is because I was hoping that it wouldn't burn my coil but with no success. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm being a dick its is not my intention thank you for your insight

It's actually better than LG says it is, as far as vaping goes.
I've seen this chart and there was a video that had another chart that said if vaping between 60 to i think 120watts that hd2c was the best battery for that range that's why I went with it. I went as far as buying 4 and marrying the pairs just for my treebox and still haven't used them for anything else.

The Sony VTC5A has a bit higher capacity and the same CDR. But really, up to 120w or even 150, the Samsung 30q has plenty of CDR and even more capacity.
Nothing wrong with the HD2C, though. I use HE4's and don't miss the 500mAh I gave up when I replaced my old HG2's.

In any case, I'm afraid it's an issue with the mod.

So I've been fighting with efun since this has started but there on vacarion right now I've contacted smok durectly and have gotten no reply. Any idea how I might get this resolved. And I looked up some of the dna's but I can't afford that other than the looks of the treebox the price was also right.

Probably nothing that can be done until their holiday is over. Smok is on the same vacation.

Since I can't afford a dna what's your thought on the wismec reuleaux rx200s 200watt tc box mod? Or a pioneer4you mod?

Personally, I'm getting a Hohmwrecker G2 next. I've had a Hohmslice for awhile now, and it has impressed the hell out of me. Initially I was turned off by the G2's looks, but after seeing what the Slice can do, I no longer care that it looks like a brick, lol.
171w. Temp controls any wire. Built as solid as it looks. Not a DNA, so it doesn't require a pc to set up. Only $65. I don't know of another mod that can do what it does for the price.

Can't use a TFV4, 8, Baby Beast, or Big Baby Beast on a Wismec RX. Smok still hasn't fixed their 510 threads and 510 pin on them, threads are to wide and pin sticks down to far, Wismec will void your warranty if you use a TFV tank with their mods last I heard. Wismec also plays a part with the problem as they haven't updated their own 510 connection, still using alluminum which the TFV tanks will strip and wear out rapidly, nor recessed the 510 pin which the TFV tanks can push down to pop out into the mod. I'll have to agree with gakudzu, the Hohmwrecker G2, Smok Alien 220W, or if you want to step back a few months with P4U the IPV5 or even further the IPV3 Li or LiVR, IPV4 and 4S are no go, most of P4U's recent mods haven't impressed me much. Sigelei would be another brand quite similar to the IPV line, and always been solid performers, even if their recent mods have been a little over speced, they are still reliable units and decently priced.

Wismec will void your warranty for using any tank other than a Wismec tank, afaik. It's not a SMOK problem, since their tanks don't damage other mods.

That gets them a big :finger: from me.

Well that decides that I don't like people telling me what I can and can't do or use so I will agree with you on that and also give them a big:finger: thanks for the heads up

I have used the TFV4, and also other tanks with longer 510 connections on Wismec/joyetech mods, you just have to be very gentle, and also use a shim/washer if needed.

It is a bugger that Wismec void warranties if you use any other tank, but if asked what I was using, I would reply "The Indestructible" ;)

It's not so much that it looks like a brick it's that ugly ass engraving that is really turning me off :grumpy: but the stats are amazing
