Hohm wrecker g2 or x-cube 2

Not sure which to get. I know there is a decent price gap between the two which isn't an issue. Any opinions? Kinda leaning toward the hohm wrecker g2 as I haven't seen many people with it.

There are some guys in here with Hohm Wreckers, and I don't have either of those devices, but if you are dead set on those two my gut says Wrecker.

I would probably go another route altogether though unless you get a great deal on the Wrecker.

I agree with the guy above, if you have any other devices that you would like suggested I would suggest you to buy a Snow Wolf 200w V1.5. Ive owned the Xcube2 and I own a Snow Wolf 200w and 75W, I dont use the Xcube due to its Bulky and cumbersome properties and its button has gotten me burned a few times pulsing coils and holding the device...
The Snow Wolf is Sexy, Does the Job well and can be had for around 90 shipped for any model on Ebay....

Everyone has their preferences. I own both the Snow Wolf and Xcube 11 as well. I happen to like my Xcube but the Snow Wolf is one of the best mods out there. I would buy the Snow Wolf first unless you really like being techy and use the blue tooth app. I m,ean you are getting 180 watts out the Xcube which is plenty. And it is upgradeable unlike the Snow Wolf.

Now I really like the Hohm Wrecker mod. I just could not find one around here and could never find one for trade. I hate buying anything new. There is always someone wanting to unload his gear that he recently purchased. Otherwise I would have given the Hohm Wrecker a spin.

I was kind of leaning toward the hohm wrecker myself but it says its only 151watts. Is there gonna be much difference between that and a 200 watt mod?

I don't think so. Most two 18650 mods don't/can't do a true 200 watts. Most will pulse above 150 watts. Those that don't will be limited by the amp draw (max current input) as the batteries lose their charge (as the voltage drops). What batteries are you planning on using?

Edit To clarify, I wouldn't use a two 18650 mod above 150 watts unless the batteries were fully charged and I was using 30 amp constant current rated batteries. Honestly, I never go above 100 watts anyway

Edit 2 I don't own any of the mods your looking at, so I'm not recommending one over the other. I was just answering your wattage question.

The Snow Wolf actually fires to 150W with a Flat Signal, after 150-200 it fires with PWM, I never go over 150w either way...Its a great mod and can fire down to .05 Ohms in Power Mode and had Temp control up to 70W. Its elegant and one of the bag for bucks mods that have a feel of quality and craftsmanship,

Not to sure as to which batteries yet. Think some trustfires or efest 40amps. Lol just kidding. Probably either LGS or Sony's though.
I wouldnt trust Sonys unless they are from Liionwholesale.com and I would stick to Samsung 25Rs and LG HE2/4's or HB6's

The he4s are what I currently use in my evic mini so I may just stick with them then. Would there be much to gain with the hohm wrecker being able to fire down to .007 ohm?

Lol it wont fire that low, maybe .07 but the 2 are very similar in specs, its just a preference of the appearance and size/wieght.

I just googled it and the 3 different sites I checked said resistance range is .05-3 ohms. Here's a cut and paste from one of them:

Additional Specs

  • With FSK chip technology, runs on (2) 25A+ 18650 batteries
  • Size: 4.13 x 2.28 x 0.94 in. (105 x 58 x 24 mm)
  • Thread Style: 510 connection with full-face push pin & high-tensile spring
  • Wattage Output: 10W – 151W (also in TC)
  • Voltage Output: FSK Intellichips automation
  • Temperature Range: 200 oF – 700 oF (93 oC – 372 oC)
  • Ohm Resistance Range: 0.05Ω – 3Ω
  • Temp/Watt Increments: .1-1 watts (WATTS MODE) : 10 oF (TEMP MODE) : 1 oC (TEMP MODE)
Edit Not the version the OP is looking at.

Gotcha, why would they list the resistance range as .007-3 ?
No clue...If you built that low I wouldnt want to be in the vicinity of that mod....The lowest Ive built and was for the purpose of that only was .06 Ohms and that was hotter then anything Ive tried before it. Most mods go down to .08-.15, the SW does down to .05, the Xcube down to .08 and most people use this as headroom for the future.

Those specs are for the original hohm wrecker. The g2 is a newer version that's supposed to be able to temp control kanthal wire as well.

I wouldn't plan on ever building anywhere near that low just nice knowing I could I guess. Lol

Sorry about that. I just searched for the one you are talking about and can't find much information on it. Reddit has a thread where some were calling it a gimmicky mod. Seems like they might have a point with TC on Kanthal, .007 resistance. If it was me, I'd like to find out more about it before buying it. Good luck.

Yeah I haven't seen to much on it either. They're was a review on you tube by ohm boy josh I believe. It seemed pretty decent. He said he wasn't sure of the accuracy of tc with kanthal but could tell the difference between say 300-500-700f.

If you were going to go snow wolf, I'd just wait another month if you can and wait for the Snow Wolf V2. Should be releasing pretty damn soon. Feb. I think... Anyone know for sure?

I haven't bought a Snow Wolf v1.5 just for that reason. My brother gave me a V1 a while ago so decided to wait and save up, since that's only way i can buy the $65+ mods lol.

Also personally i use my black X Cube 2 way more than the SnowWolf. I love it. Love the way my black crown tank looks on it and haven't had a single issue with it in over 2 months of use(knock on wood).

I have the Mini and there isnt anything that I could think of besides SS TC that I would want out of it...
It does 75W, locks Resistance, Has NI200/TI TC and has Key locks and no auto shutoff that plague the V1/V1.5. Its nice and small can can fire down to .05 in both Kanthal and TC modes....I use it more and more and now with a Micro TFV4 on it I use it more then anything Else in my collection.

Im not as big of a fan for the Xcube becuase I build daily and the firing bar I would need to pulse with and I would always forget I cant squeeze it while playing with the build and burn the hell out of my fingers....I like buttons much more now..
My favorite Gear with the TFV4 Family:

i'm in the same boat, I want the 2nd gen but it's out of range for me. first gen should do nicely. also i was reading on vaporcubes ebay page where they claim that the wrecker's 151 watts is somehow measured differently and is actually closer to pushing a bit over 180watts by the standard gauge. im sure you know they also have some crazy batts. that are like 40+ amp, (Hohm work) you can actually even find those on Amazon. i'm checking the batts out whether i get the wrecker or not.!! good luck!

I totally dug my Xcube. Right up until one of the battery tabs just dropped out of it without my notice and upon trying to install a fresh set of batteries it BBQ'd them as well. Replaced it with a gold Snow Wolf and I am now madly in love with it.

P.S. It senses your crazy daily build nonsense and does any required "pulsing" for you.
