Hohm Wrecker G2 settings for stainless ?

Could someone explain the differences between using normal watt mode and switching Stainless mode...watt mode? Something i noticed is when in normal wattmode it just throws wahtever watts you have it set at till the cotton catches fire lol where as in stainless watt mode ( i only use 316L wire) sometimes it will show zeros on the screen when firing. just curious if anyone has this box and knows how it works and whats the best settings. for me on my .28ohm dual coil RTA using normal wattmode even tho its SS coils hits harder and longer than in SS mode but maybe i am doing something wrong??? Temp mode is fine but i dont think i get as much vapor out of temp mode over watts. i seem to get more flavor with temp mode.

Where does the XXX porno mode come in to play with the device .....and isnt this device supposed to NOT make the cotton catch fire lol

It only stops cotton from burning if you are using it in temp mode. Since you are using SS316l wire, just use the preset SS mode and you'll be fine. no reason to use XXX mode IMO unless you are using a wire that isn't pre programmed in (like NiFe)

people some people don't want to use temp control? every device has a wattage mode, would be weird to not have one. Also good for when you need to clean your coils as temp mode won't let them get hot enough to burn off the crap.

for kenthal you can use watt more or TC kenthal mode. your choice.

The mod has a lot of options, really up to you on how you want to use it. I always use it in TC mode. I use SS for my ss316l wire, kenthal for my tanks (TFV8 right now) and XXX for my NiFe wire. I don't use wattage mode unless I'm cleaning my coils

really hard to use it wrong.

1) set your wire type
2) set your wattage
3) set your temp

or

1) set wire type
2) enable auto+TC mode
3) Select your auto level

if it's too hot lower the temp. As far as NiFe wire goes, if you don't have any I wouldn't worry about it. It's hard to come by, but it is good

Or just put that bitch in xxx mode, adjust your FSK Curve to your liking and vape. Different materials us different curve values but a good percentage of us G2 users just use xxx mode.

The xxx mode was initially intimidating to me but it really as simple as Jack stated. If a dummy like myself can figure it out, most people shouldn't have any issues.

Try the curve bro. You can fine tune just as much as a DNA without the fancy pancy software. Yeah it takes some trial and error but you do have the ability to really dial her in.

I did with NiFe30 wire. worked great at 45% I just think the defualts work so good, no reason not to use them unless I use wire not pre-programmed in

ecig was selling the hotcig DNA200 for like 60 bucks for a while (54 with coupon code) but the battery life is poor on it.
The triade is 125, for labor day could have got it for 100 even. you can get it now for 112.50
the hotcig DR200 is going for 92 on gearbest
the thinkvape 200 for 96 on gearbest

So yeah you can get 200watt DNA200 devices for 100 or less

I built some 24g 316 twist coils and got 0.12ohms and the g2 at 171w max wasn't enough.....that's why I'm wondering if they will bump it more because the fsk chip can produce a lot more then 170w.

how many wraps? how many twisted wires, twist pitch? dual coil?

I've never built a build that needed over 120 TBH. and 120 is a dual coil 7 wrap fused clapton coil 316L 3mm ID, on a tsunami 24 and it gets hot chain vaping. I couldn't imagine 171 watts not being enough. It was .11ohm IIRC

closest i could get for that would be dual coil, 2 wires, twist pitch 1mm, 3ID, 6 wrap. 100 watts should be more then enough to heat that up near instantly.

Like I said before though, 2 new mods from Hohmtech on the Horizon. One is a triple 18650, the other is a dual 26650 named the Hohmrun. The triple should be able to handle almost anyone's wattage needs.

It took like 10seconds for these to glow at 171w. it's possible I had the settings all screwed up? Once there going tho get some good flavor and vape.

Thats almost 38 amps, they should glow within 1 second, i wonder if the device is throttling because the batteries can't handle it or a setting is wrong. what batteries are you using?

also for safety purposes, I doubt the device will fire that build at 171 watts maybe @Deucesjack could chime in. he might no more about it. Their site doesn't list max amps.

Absolutely, I got a set of Raymo2u claptons on mine and they fire up right away. My coils are way beefier than those. Something is amiss.

yup. my double fused claptons are beefier (not as beefy as raymo2u coils though lol) and 100 fires them right up
I've never seen a build on an RDA that needs over 100 watts unless maybe you do 6 beefy coils lol.

Dna 200 at under $100 is a tall order. Maybe the Reuleaux or the Panzer on a holiday sale. Find a couple of DNA 200 mods you like and check Vapecrawler.com every once and a while.

The problem is your FSK setting is not correct, that is why it is not firing.

Try this:

Switch to xxx mode and put your watts to about 65 watts and temp to 450. Then set your FSK to 15% and let her rip. FSK % is different when in SS mode than in xxx mode so what works there will not necessarily work in xxx.

The reason why most of just use xxx is because it is much easier then switching modes. There really is no advantage to switching modes, just more steps and complexity. XXX mode is for all metals and when you figure out what FSK works for each metal it makes it so much easier.

Here is my range for wires in xxx mode:

Kanthal: 2.5% to 9% FSK

SS316L: 7.5% to 15% FSK

You can try at the low ranges, if it is not hot enough or you want more power then turn up FSK by 10% and try again. Too hot then turn FSK down 10%. The key to the Hohm mods is all about the FSK %, find what works for you and it is an outstanding vape.

The FSK chip is only complicated if you make it so, as deuces says put that bitch in xxx mode and simplify your life, it is that easy.
