Netflix has released the first teaser and debut date for the fifth season of House of Cards. With a show focused on the President of the United States (Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood), it's obviously no coincidence this was revealed on inauguration day.
The first look at Season 5 is short, as the teaser only provides a brief look at the series' dark tone, with several kids reciting the Pledge of Allegiance while an upside down United States flag is shown, which is usually a signal of distress. You can also spot the White House in the background.
House of Cards will return on May 30, 2017, a later than the show's usual February or March premieres. Earlier last year, series creator and original showrunner Beau Willimon left, with former senior writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese being promoted to House of Cards' new showrunners.
