Good day and Happy Vaping Day to all.

So the last few days I have been in heavy thoughts about the Vaping World. It is amazing how in 2015 the vaping community as a whole has changed so dramatically over the past few years.

I was a heavy smoker of Marlb. Menthol analogs for 20 years. After several failed attempts at quitting, I resigned myself that I was hooked and that was it and there wasn’t anything that could break the nasty habit. Tired patches, gum, pills etc… and had some minor success but not long term.

So two years ago, I go into my daily stop on my way home from work to buy a pack of smokes. Just for the hell of it I buy one of those disposable ecigs that you see sold at all gas stations along with my smokes. I toke on the disposable for the evening and remarkably I only smoked one or two cigs all night long. I was somewhat ok with it. On my way to work the next day, the disposable dies I say to myself well that was kinda cool and that’s the end of the story. So I thought anyway…… I never did buy another disposable ecig again because I said whats the sense if it only lasted me one evening… its actually pretty stupid in my opinion. So in my normal OCD way that I live, I go to the internet and look for whats out there that may be in the same realm. I research this for days. From everything I can see, I find a company V2 cigs. So sure, I place an order for the standard pen style battery and little cart but more importantly it is rechargeable and that’s all I cared about at the time. I continue to upgrade to better juice, a little plastic tank that holds 1.4 ml (wow that is HUGE) and some wicks. I am set for life right….. I continue to vape and smoke because the V2 is nice and is helping but is just not taking away this craving I have. I am not sure if I crave the nicotine, or the pure fact of hand to mouth addiction or maybe I like to see the exhaled smoke.. hummmmm…..

So a year goes by like this and I end up at another vendors site named HALO. Taking what I already know (as it turns out isn’t shit in this world) I buy the tank system, and extended battery (not for the variable volts but for the longer life on the battery. To my amazement this tank holds 2.4ml. OMG that is insane right (LOL). Amazingly, I continue to order through their website and what the fuck do you know but I haven’t smoked in a few days.. Maybe this is ok. More time goes by and I am still not smoking nor do I need the feel for it. However, my HALO better be within reach at all times unless I am in bed…. Maybe some of you can relate to that. So now life is good, I am not smoking and I continue to order my supplies online… well crap, I stumble into a local Vape shop because I am a little low on juice and don’t want to wait for an order to come in. OMG what the hell is all this shit that is in these cabinets. This is a strange world we live in. why would anyone want one of those awkward boxes or those plastic looking metal tanks.. that’s just crazy I thought. I made a few more trips to that vape store and others over the next month and then I saw it……. The HUGE Vapor plume put out by one of those ridiculous boxes with a tank on it.. I immediately knew then that my addiction wasn’t so much to nicotine (of course to a point yes), I loved to see the exhale of smoke when I did smoke. Now this vapor thingy is crazy… I gotta have one of those. Besides I am saving my life by not smoking right? I cant speak for all of you, but I find now my vaping gear and supplies are just about as much as the smokes but I am saving my life I think. I take the plunge and pay way too much at this vape shop for an MVP 11 watt box and the Aspire Nautilus mini. I paid well over 180 for the two and that wasn’t even a year ago. I learned my lesson there but in any event, that was just the start. I continued to move up and now am on the IVP3, Atlantis tanks (just got the modified Atlantis that holds 8ml hahah ), and drippers. If that wasn’t bad enough, I continue to buy different RDA’s to chase the vapor with. Ok that should hold me right… NOPE…. Now lets start making our own E-jiuce to save more money.. HAHAHAH ok, I cant even tell you how many flavors I have now and sure I can make my own juice now but damn has this gotten out of hand or what. I just ordered the LEMO yesterday and last night I am thinking maybe I should have gotten the sub tank instead. I know me, I will be placing an order for the subtank later today even before the LEMO arrives.

Ok so that’s my story but the real story is somewhere in between all of it. Where the obsession with vaping, blowing huge plumes of vapor and enjoying the experience is hidden. Thats all fine and dandy but what does seem to concern me is the continuous search for the next larger Plume, the next best mod set up. For Christ sake, I am now looking at more mods. Like the dual battery IVP3, with 4 additional batteries is not enough to get me through one day.. Seriously.

I find my self trying to vape whenever I can, even in my office where I stealth vape on a IVP3 because I need the big plumes somehow hahahha

How many others have similar experiences…
Sorry for the long winded post but I had to put this out there…

Very nicely done!

And yep, the vaping world as grown in a most spectacular fashion over the past few years. Including the evolution of our hardware and the number of ex smokers who have joined our ranks.

I was very fortunate when I first started that I found a forum where I could get some great help and advice. Not ECF as IMHO they treat new vapers badly over there.

And a few experienced vapers took me under their wings, gave me excellent advice (while treating me with friendship and respect) and pointed me to places where I could get decent gear at reasonable prices so I was able to avoid many of the pitfalls that new vapers face.

And just like my gear I keep evolving myself. And eventually I will get into DIY and perhaps in a year or two, I may even try to make my own mod:D

Thanks for kind words UncleRJ. I was not as fortunate when I first started vaping and agree with you in regards to ECF. I prefer it here at VU much better. Although I made my share of mistakes and misguided purchases, I would like to share my knowledge with those who may be looking for some direction especially if they are just gettin off the smokes. And of course I continue to learn and experience new methods, equipment and theories each and every opportunity that I can...

Have a Vappy Day

This is the end game for me. Making my juice just how I want it and building my mod just how I want it. Mod building could cure shiny'itis too. ;)

Hey Devil, regards. My story sounds remarkably similar to yours although I must say in recent weeks my purchases have trailed off. Is it possible I have enough gear? lol. Like most of us I think I just "need" one more mod... I started with the disposables in July, graduated to an Evo with a Nautilus tank... then on to an Itaste MVP and an Iclear 30. Still not enough and tough to get a lung hit but I was kinda satisfied, I wasn't smoking! I bought a Cloupor T5 and the Atlantis and I was kind of ecstatic. Finally satisfied with the draw and nic levels. You would think that would be enough, lmao! Now I had to build... I now have 6 drippers for building. 6... 2 wasn't enough:) Shiny itis and my need to compulsively blow out a hobby resulted in a Hana 30 Watt box and a Kanger Simar 20 Watt gravity mod... tack on a couple of Orchids (one wasn't enough) a Squape and a Big Buddha to round things out. Ok I'm done... right? Of course not, now it's time to DIY juice. Been at that for a couple of months now with varying levels of success. Bottom line: I have quit smoking probably for good after 30 years off and on. I don't smell, I don't cough, I don't wheeze. My house and my car may smell a bit of Ejuice, but hell... it smells good! The truth is I never enjoyed smoking as much as I enjoy vaping. Not even close. Things are a little different. Instead of carrying 2 packs of stinkies and a lighter everyday, I carry 3 mods with various loaded RTA's and a fanny pack full of gear "just in case". My OCD loves this hobby. My living room coffee table has become my coil building work bench. My kid, my coworkers and my SO are all off my ass cause I DON'T SMOKE lol. I never wake up in the morning hacking, this winter's bronchitis never showed up. My wind is as good as it ever was and now I run 9 miles a week which is new for me. Don't think I'd be doing that if I was still smoking 2 packs of cheapo Internet bought cigarillos a day like I was. The only thing left that I might "need" is a Sigelei 100+ :) but that's gonna wait. Ya gotta draw the line somewhere.

lol guys. i so relate. there is ALWAYS the next "thingy" that gets stuck on your " i NEED this" list. i smoked for 40yrs. 2plus packs a day. couldn't quit. 3yrs ago, not willing to part with my cig money (low income and panic id run out) i gave a 3 piece 510 a try. at that time i had already had 4 heart-attacks and a stroke. every time i lit a cig i was dealing with major chest pain to get my "fix". the 510, i guess from being a 3 piece going out of style thing was under 10$. i was desperate. i took to it like a duck. next day i had my last cig and quit the 40yr old habit. have i mentioned i rolled my own most of that time? didn't take a month and i had an ego and a ce4. i had been lucky enough to have stumbled into madvapes the 1st time. then more egos. at 6mths i was so pleased with myself i got a mvp and a evod --bottom coils were the new thingy at the time. by a year out i was into DIY and yes, i have half the flavors express sells. do ok on single or double flavors, nothing fancy. never quested after mechs (flashlights as i called them) but on a whim one day with my son i picked up a kamery. then a copper tesla. now--i'm drooling over a istick50 more for the mah then the sub-ohm option but then i have been thinking why not a kangar sub-ohm nano? for me these two items will be 3mths of saving up and i know by the time i get them i'll already have something else on my i NEED this list. for as much as there is always the next thing--i love vapeing. it saved my life literally. last August i had a 3x by-pass but now ill have time to be with hubby a couple of years longer. (n-stage congestive heart failure i wont get the 10-15yrs and/or redo but hey--) i also found community--like minded people to talk with and with VU to hang out with. vapeing is about so much more then the money we all started out thinking we'd be saving ourselves--so much more.

I'm a nicotine addict. But to save my life, I quit smoking. That just about made me crazy. When I discovered vaping, it saved my sanity. I got here this way:

However did we get here, I haven't a clue, but I'm glad we did and I hope it continues in a direction that serves us.
Vaping is hands down the best way to quit smoking and comes with a passionate support group.

Oh my the vaping world and our "Gear" have come along way baby lolol

For those of us who have been vaping since 2008 or earlier, it really has come a long way. I started with njoy and then V2. I got the provari v1 when it came out in 2010 (which i still have)... that was the shit in the day. Currently vaping on a VS rdna40 with a lemo drop... waiting for the sx mini m-class to be released to drop some more $$. I have saved $$ overall while avoiding tens of thousands of analogs. It's all good.:)

I started with the V2 as well. What a great introduction into. vaping. Pushing the ivp3 now with Atlantis and next step is the sm m mini as well with the freemax Starre once they both come available.

Started with cigalikes not to quit smoking, but more so that I could continue to get nicotine wherever I wanted. Unfortunately, found that these e-cigs didn’t satisfy me the same as cigarettes do, so didn’t last me long at all.

Later on I was introduced to tank cartomizers that you could fill with your flavored “e-liquid” Gave that a go for pretty much the same reason as before, but eventually found that I liked it more, and about a month later, kicked the stinkies and the rest is history J

My first “rebuildable” setup was this:
fc5ht0.jpg

From there it became a bit of an obsession of trying to get the next best thing, wanted to try as many different things in that search for the perfect vape; regulated, mechs, tanks, drippers, etc… A little over 2 years later, and I’ve finally settled on my last 2 pieces.

Will likely vape for life, but my consumption has dropped down to the point where the habit is almost nonexistent. I don’t even take my vape out with me anymore, I just use it when I’m at home now.

I was looking at e-cigs for a couple years. my local cigar shop sold them, but i never bought one to try. Continued to smoke cigars for a few more years until i burned a couple holes in the seat of my brand new truck, that cost 400 dollars to have recovered. I made the commitment to at least try an e-cig.

Bought a couple packs of Blue's, and even refilled them. That lasted about a week before buying a couple nautilus and a stick battery. That lasted a few more weeks until I bought a Plume Veil and a tube mod, and have never looked back. I had 4 boxes of cigars left, 25 in each box, all dumped into the trash. 12 atty's and 10 mods later.........

that lasted me 6 months, back in 2006.. and they were mostly faulty..
i had to give up working for them.. and i dont have the database any longer..
but i have the memories of chargers exploding, carts cracked, and i even saw sparks off my computer when changing by a regular usb port..

I was committed to trying again since I got mom to switch.
Was having one helluva fucking time scratching that itch... was using snuff and snus to tide me over but the itch could not be scratched with the cartos and tanks of three years ago.
Mech + dripper and I was HOOKED!! still take a sniff of snuff now again but threw out all the snus.

Forever ruined buy a decent air flow dripper and a sigelei 150.. Insanity in thy hand.

I remember when I quit smoking in 2011. I vaped and smoked for 6 months, and then one day I stopped smoking and continued to vape. A month after that day I got the jones real bad and found a half empty pack in my trucks glove compartment. Smoked 1 cig and hacked my fucking lungs up. After that experience, I just stuck with vaping, the wife quit smoking and took up vaping after I had been doing it for a year or so.

Smoked Marlboro menthol lights. That became the biggest challenge. Duplicating that menthol taste I used for 30+ years. I started my journey with cigalikes 3 years ago (March 2012). My brother-in-law turned me onto one. Knew I could use this to stop cigarettes but that I needed something better,so, purchase on, cartomizers, punched cartomizers with tanks, Ego, vivi nova, many rda's, iclears, kayfun, russian, eleaf lemo. I was able to built an OKR-T6 mod the first year (2011) which offered me the opportunity to have an all day device with plenty of power, lol . With the improvements to devices and liquid delivery systems recently I been tempted to over-purchase. So far I haven't. I'm honest with myself. If i don't vape I will smoke.

Few vape buddies of mine told me quitting snuff is significantly harder to do than smoking. Alas, they all no longer smoke, but still use the Snuff/Snus to this day.

It took my uncle getting an infection in his gums and jawbone before he quit dipping snuff. 55 years of Copenhagen. He's got a 3d printed titanium section of his lower jaw bone now.

if they are confusing copenhagen to snuff they are wrong it is a snuff cut.
Snus was not that hard at all and snuff well other than the menthol to dry out the strolls I don;t really do it all that often.

he dipped chew not snuff. I dare anyone to sniff cope and the resulting bleeding from the eyes will be comical for those watching.

Nothing wrong enjoying a chunk of a Kendal Twist now and again...
I am still a user of rolled fairly additive free tobacco or snuff, then again I have a few pounds of whole cured leaf for when SHTF.
