How to vape better (using mods)

I have been vaping since march of 2014. I started with an eGo pen with the iClear16 & the kangertech 650 battery. Then I stopped for a while. Just recently, like in November, my friend sold me an Astro mod, it's the authentic not the clone :). I was wondering why does it hurt when I take a hit, using 0mg juice? I'm guessing it's because I'm just starting or I don't know how to handle the amount of vapor lol. I want to know a couple of things, such as: what kanthal wire should build my coils with (using the igo w3 rda)? How could I blow bigger clouds? Should I have a couple of other mods or rda's? I've been watching videos of how people build their coils and then they test it out... & it gets me excited . Please help me out brothers!!

Hi Rad. It absolutely should not hurt, so something must be wrong with the build on your igo.
Check to see that the entire coil is touching the wick. There should be no voids between wick and wire.
Do the following under somewhat subdued lighting:
Wet the wick thoroughly and fire the mod for a few seconds with the top cap removed.
You should not see any part of the wire glowing at all.
If the wire glows anywhere that "hot spot" is what makes the hit hurt you.
Check that the legs of the coil are not lighting up either. Tends to happen when the legs are long.
Also, if the wick is not wet enough, a dry hit will also burn your throat something fierce.
Good luck.

Thanks a lot P1NkY, the info was very useful, now it doesn't hurt! Time to vape now!!

Glad to help!
I'm not a sub-ohmer or cloudchaser, (5 wraps of 32g nichrome around a 2mm screwdriver give me ~ 1.5-1.8 ohm and I'm a happy guy)
but there's a certain technique that produces some decent cloudage even on higher ohm builds like mine.
Take a deep lung hit but don't seal the driptip completely with your lips (some call it "carbing").
This way you draw fresh air along with the vapor. Exhale slowly with your mouth as if you're pronouncing the letter "H".
When you're almost done with the exhale, purse your lips and blow into the center of your cloud, making it billow outwards even more.

Take care and vape on!

There's a technique to cloud chasing that is difficult to understand, it's just something you have to practice. I watched a Rip Trippers vid the other day, and he was joking that cloud chasing is practically an Olympic event because of all the breathing technique involved. But yes, @P1NkY is definitely correct.

The biggest thing with cloud chasing is airflow. Airflow on your RDA and airflow in and out of your mouth and lungs. You need to be able to learn how your RDA burns juice, so that your draw doesn't get ahead of or behind what it's capable of producing. Draw too fast, and you're just wasting air. Draw too slow and you're wasting vapor and overheating. A slow, steady draw is what you need.

On the exhale, don't purse your lips together and blow because you'll lose vapor. Make that "H" like suggested above. Kind of like when you huff on a DVD or your cell phone screen to wipe it off. A slow, steady exhale, followed by a final short puff at the end will make your vapor mushroom out like a nuclear blast.

Oh...and in case you didn't already know...use 100% VG e-liquid. ;)

The other thing I would suggest about the hits that hurt... Check your insulators. I learned that the hard way.
