Hi guys!

I'm looking at buying another mod and have my eyes on 2 possible options.

  1. Hugo Boxer v2
  2. Reuleaux RX2/3
Let me know which one of the 2 you would buy?

Or if you have a suggestion for another, similar mod, please let me know?

Thank you everyone!

Thanks man. Why would you stay away from the Reuleaux? Did you have a bad experience with it or know of any problems with it?
The doors on the 2/3 has been repeatedly reported as failing. It's not a typical battery door, but has contacts that allow the switch between 2 and 3 cells.

Also the 2/3 has the dreaded Wismec 510 pin (different problem than the current pin). Not all but a sizable amount will provide a no atty failure and/or a fault in tc reading.

I have so far been lucky with my 2/3. It was a ok mod but since installing ArticFox firmware it has become a very good little mod. As far as the battery doors I never used it as a 3 battery mod and never intended to. The 510 connection has been OK, I am very careful with it though.

I have never owned one so take this how you will but over the course of how ever many products they have made there has been:
messed up 510's
bad battery door connections
Thin wiring (which might be fine for less than 100 watts but come on would you want a race car with a transmission only good to 100?)
And last but not least their newest one shorting out and melting. There is a tread created near this one.

I understand, I am not buying another wismec device until all problems are resolved either. Well outside of a NC 2. I was just saying I have had good luck with mine.

The RX2/3 is extremely easy to disassemble/reassemble so, even though a lot of people reported issues with the 510 connector and the wiring, even though some people have typically been crying a Yangtze river on the internet about these issues, it is still a great mod if you know how to use a dremel and a soldering iron because then it takes literally minutes to fix these issues, and, now we are only assuming that you WILL run into these issues. I own the mod myself. ArcticFox is quite simply a must have. I use it on my RX300. The preheat in ArcticFox gives you the option to dial in your own custom power curves in VW mode. This alone is why similar priced mods pale in comparison. If you vape at reasonably high wattages and you don't mind the extra size and weight of the RX300. Then get the RX300 and four VTC5A batteries. Don't listen to other people talk about which battery is better─excepting only one person, who goes by the name of Mooch. Always make sure to use ONLY a separate battery charger for all of your Lithium rechargeable batteries.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I didn't know about the 510 issue with the Wismec mods and will research that. I haven't had any Wismec/Jaybo mods before.

So the Hugo Boxer is a good option? Or any other, similar suggestions?

Would love to get a noisy cricket and have vaped on a friend's a few times although it's a semi-mech mod I guess? So it's a bit of a different setup and I'm currently looking to add another regulated mod to my collection for now.

While that is awesome and very useful info. Not everyone is into electronic repair. I for one haven't ever soldered anything much less anything that small. And that's a what $40 device if I screw up then I'd have to buy another and to do what try soldering again?

By all means I guess the chip is ok from what I have read so if you buy one and change the wires to thicker wires and change the 510 then you have a decent mod.

That's actually the point... you don't NEED to be into electronic repair to be able to achieve the result shown in the video I linked. All it really does take is that little bit of effort plus common sense because it's not exactly true rocket science now, is it? So yes, of course there will always be those people who still don't like it, but hey... that's life! If they prefer a different mod that can't do preheat with a custom curve in VW mode and that can't be used in a triple battery configuration, then who am I to judge those people? You know what they say. Different folks, different strokes. It's all there essentially is to it. (And I never actually even said that it's not.) With all the Wismec hate clearly going on lately in certain areas of the internet, I just thought I'd mention some possibilities─ones I think are definitely not nearly as bad as some are trying to portray them ( =big understatement).

Vaporesso Tarot Pro seems like a good option?
Hey didn't want to leave you hanging but sorry as I kind of stated I don't know much about the Hugo. I also don't know much about the tarot either.

As jb stated there is the homewrecker g2 a lot of people like it and it can "Temp control" kanthal.

The DNA chip has it's following. My wife noticed a difference when she got her DNA 75 lava box; she really likes it. Though, I'd be more interested in the DNA 200/250 or the 2 battery versions 133/166. Some DNAs can be had for close to $100.

Temp control has its following, but then again so does VW mode─and not just for the fact it's a lot simpler to use. My take on DNA is that ones close to $100 are not typically worth $100. Changing the settings in EScribe is tedious as you have to hook up the USB cable with every tiniest move you make. Which inevitably brings me back to my point... ArcticFox. It's free, and, believe it or not, it works. :D

Unfortunately we don't have the Hohmwrecker G2 here locally.

I'm considering going for the Vaporesso Tarot Pro then I'll post back here and do a review on it.
Alternatively, I might still do the Hugo Boxer.

But based on the videos and discussions I saw regarding that 510 of the RX2/3 I definitely won't be buying it.

Thanks for the input guys.

To tell you the whole truth... the 510 is precisely one of the reasons why I voted for the RX2/3. This is because on other, similar priced mods the 510 usually is press fitted too─in such a way that it's either impossible or much harder to replace.
