AMC's new 8-part sci-fi series Humans, debuting Sunday, June 28th, may not exactly be a fresh take on artificial intelligence - at least not after this first episode - but it still fits nicely within our present day Black Mirror technology anthology TV world where subtle aspects of humanity's desire to both create and replace life can be analyzed and dramatized via separate stories involving different modes of robotic assistance.
And so Humans's biggest strength, at the outset here, is that it presents to us several different tales. Stories that I assume will all come together at some point within the next few episodes, but nicely partitioned here in the pilot so as to show us varying levels of android aid and consciousness.
