I Just Need A Quick Coil...

Hi All,

I haven't gotten into coil building yet - but have plans to to so in the somewhat near future.

But for now, I could use some of your sage advice. I bought a Patriot RDA for the sole purpose of drip testing my DIY juices with my Innokin MVP 20W. It supposedly would work, but when I got it home the resistance was (is) too low - 0.7 ohms. The MVP won't fire anything under 1.0 ohms.

Can one of you fine folks point me towards a quick tutorial that will show me how to make a 1.0-2.0 ohm coil? Or, maybe you could suggest a place to purchase a pre-made coil I could just install myself.

Thanks!
CC

I think quite a few places sell pre made coils...In all honesty now would be a good time to learn how to do them...Its very simple and considering you arent playing with dangerous sub ohm levels you dont have much to worry about.

For about a 20 25 dollar investment you can be making your own coils for a year easily.

Absolutely! I'm looking forward to the learning experience. But for now, my main priority is to be able to test my DIY flavors, then learn more about coil building and sub-ohm vaping once I'm fairly happy with my DIY juice recipes.

Youtube is a great source on tutorials..Look up "How to rebuild a kanger evod coil"..This basic simple coil building..This method works in RDA's also just different how the legs are attached.

I would start with a simple spaced apart coil then branch off from there.

I recommend the SMOK mini RDA...its a small simple single coil at higher ohm and is about 6 dollars for it.

Dude, that looks like a much better option than the Patriot for my purposes. Thanks!

Good advice from @Mike H. and @UncleMike - the SMOK Octopus is what I believe that old-school single coil setup is called, should work well for a single coil, tiny wick to drip-test flavors on. And Steam Engine will let you plug in the wire you're using, the resistance you want to achieve, and you can then play with wraps and inner diameter to find a coil that works for you.

Vaper's Toolbox is what I use as my coil calculator. Free to download from the Google Play store if you use an Android based phone.
