I used to be a PC gamer a long time ago, but mostly shooters. (q3A, Unreal Tournament, yes ,that long ago) Truthfully, I played games mainly to test my machines and never got beyond reasonably good, but not great.
Time is an issue for me lately, but I might be up for learning something.

Took me a while to get used to UT2004, but I played that quite a bit too (offline - got owned too much online)

I played 2004 quite a bit too. I was friends with the GMC crew. Giant Map Clan. They were all 99 though. They let me in on their practices at which time I was instantly reminded of how good I really was not. Gunz, B and Handyman were great guys and taught me a lot,(especially B) including that I would never be as good as them. Those guys were on an absolutely different level.
Q3A is a mouse/WSAD/space bar FSP. Just in case you didn't know that

I tried it before, is that the one that runs in sort of its own browser environment? It was tough, but I tried it out because the original Team Fortress was based on the Quake engine, I think, so I wanted to try rocket jumpingI guess I also have Unreal Tournament 3: Black, but I didnt get into it like I did UT2004 - probably because of life circumstances and lack of time though
I never saw a browser based version. It was an install, but somebody rigged up a no install version that runs in Win10. I'm not sure if it's using Open GL like it used to or if it's Direct X now, but it works. It did have rocket jumping, but I blew myself up half the time trying itI know
What was really a blast was Mr. Pants Excessive Overkill mod for it. Everything full auto

Oh no of course do. It's so old now that licensing won't be an issue. I owned like 5 copies I got in different tins and packages and stuff anyway.
One thing. At least for me, it seems to auto select a decent resolution and if I change it, it flips out. I lose like 2 of the axis on the mouse and goes in circles.
I set mine to run in compatibility mode for Windows 2000, and it works great now

yerp, I had the same problem you did - 1/3rd of the screen missing, I couldnt find a mouse cursor anywhere, tried guessing where the Accept button was lol, yeah that wasnt doing the job
not even windows xp mode compatibility was good enough

I know better than to let the word "promise" fall from my keyboard, but I'll play it with you, even if I have to install Steam. Which I never had an account for. Keep in mind, the only games I every really played were shooters. I'll have to learn the controls and everything.
I think you mentioned something about playing in a "clan's practice" and "learning things" which are both things way above anything I did in Unreal

It's quite a simple game really, one reason I like it so much
the other reason is the characters are cute as hell and many deaths are funny, for some reason
They helped me get better, but my 8 or 10 months hanging out with them consisted largely of me providing target practice I assure you
They were just cool friendly guys, unlike a lot of other clans. B (Brandon from Minnesota) was probably the very best player I ever personally encountered. Another one was a 16 year old girl named Natalie from the BOC clan (they had uniform skins and were easy to spot in the wild) who also was an unstoppable monster who practiced constantly. Her older brother wasn't a real good player, but he was a great map maker.I wanted to setup a one on one triple jump/ low grav/ high speed/instagib shock rifle match between Brandon and Natalie which would have been standing room only for spectator spots, but it never happened.

Have been wanting the same thing lately but I'm on console and play mostly COD and NBA 2K and Madden. I am looking for a gaming PC well a mini gaming PC to use only for gaming really cause there's a lot of games I want to play but aren't on console. Had a solid group of gamer friends that we ran DMZ every day sometimes all night. Alot of times all night and slowly they dropped off and don't see them online anymore. Randoms just don't do it for me and I didn't realize how much I really wish I had a good gaming buddy or two or three to play with again. Even though DMZ was a beta it's still has a huge following and never have trouble finding squadmates. Only issue now is cheaters with their modded controllers and cronos zen devices. Don't get how it's fun to cheat and win every PVP fight cause of your cheats and mods but Everytime I encounter one or two ( by encounter I mean die ) I can't resist reminding them that they had to cheat to not be trash and hope they respond back long enough to find out they just got reported and that this was their last match. I play alot of Warzone as well I know both DMZ and WARZONE are cross platform so if you ever play either of those or BLACK OPS 6 let me know I'll send you my gamertag and we can squad up.
