Many of you know my feelings on Prorape. I have have 3 of there mods... I skipped on the radius for several reasons; but, I said if they did 50w I would get one. Never did I think they would do 50w.
I am now eating my shoe and buying another prorape mod

http://www.provape.com/provari-procyon-s/110.htm

I know nothing about the mod, other than its 50w and its prorape. For me this is like another step in the journey, the p2.5 is what let me quit smoking, 50w is usable for my vaping needs, enough said. It doesn't have tc, BUT neither does my hexohm and I love that. Besides, SS runs fine in power mode. lol

i'll report back what I find when it shows up.

think it was so soon because outside of the prorape fanboys/girls it wasn't exactly met with raving reviews.
what I find amusing is how many times I was told by reps of provape that an 18650 couldn't do 50w, so they made the radius 40w.

I love physics.

Nope, not again for me, if anything like the Radius, the battery life will not be good, I thought I would like the Radius, and as I vape around 30 watts, thought it would work good for me, but sold mine, because the battery life was pretty bad with it, all my other single 650 mods lasted longer than the Radius.

stupid voltage cutoff?
my p3 needs a new battery at 3.7v smh - which is why it stays on my nightstand for late night use only- that and during the day I'm between 45-85w depending.

Yep....shame as was a nice mod, but wouldn't even last 5 hours for me, and that was with using 2 other mods too.

wow!
that's prorape...
I remember many an argument with a few of them about that with the p3 .
the best was being told the battery design was as such so that you can vape all day without changing it... yet they take half the run time away.

hahahaha!!! I wonder what kind of argument had to happen as adamant as they were to say that an 18650 cant safely provide 50w of power

I'll wait for a 20% coupon, maybe I'll buy one, maybe then.

$100, I'll get one for nostalgia's sake.

Before the Radius, the mantra of the ProVarinati was "Nobody needs more than 20W." Then the Radius hit and there was lots of backpedaling. I can't even imagine what's going on now.

I agree, the price is outrageous. For a 50 watt mode, that is nuts.

I'm glad my wattage needs fit the 2.5, as it remains to me the pinnacle of their products. Durable for years, long battery runtime, consistent clean power. I don't think they can ever match that great design which was worth the premium price in it's heyday. Hell, I even like the simple menu and single button control.

Everything they've done since is somewhat interesting, offers features I don't need and starts around $150. The Procyon should keep more of their fans happy and I think they'll serve a loyal niche market in the future. A killer American made mod that's a game changer would be great, but I'm not holding my breath.

I stocked up on the $30 2.5 blem specials so I'll just be happily vaping under 15 watts for years to come. I hope they'll survive in the new vaping age, but I'm not holding my breath on that one either.

At least all the high end mods use expensive materials and/or are hand crafted. This is a fucking metal tube with a 50W chip, no TC, no USB upgrade capability for $220. Redonkulous.

ProVape remind me of Nintendo. Has a rabid fan base, set the bar for their industry in the past but have since fallen way behind because they refuse to embrace what the consumer now wants. Not only that but they make laughable excuses for not embracing new wants that only said rabid fan base believe.

The 2.5 was also my mod of choice, in order to switch from smoking to vaping. As much as I like the design of the new 50W mod, I won't be getting another ProVape mod. I can get a DNA200 for less $$$, with more features and wattage.

I know PV's history and I respect them for what they did for vaping, but man... ...really? I get why people get all nostalgic for them, but it seems even those people aren't so into these new additions.

I don't get it. Is this a religious trinket?

I like that they call it one of the most luxurious and powerful 18650 tube mods ever made. They've gotta be fucking with us. What they've done is put a brand new Honda Civic engine in a Rolls-Royce. No vtec, even!

I don't understand how anyone can justify this. It's not even a good mod for what it is. It truly is nothing special. Hell, it's barely relevant. Who is this mod for?

If you want to make a 50w mod, so be it. Plenty of MTL'ers I'm sure would love a well-crafted, intuitive, and feature-rich 50w mod. I just don't understand the rationale behind making a bare-bones, dated, likely average-quality 50w mod and pricing it well above many of the most sophisticated, advanced, well-made mods on the market. It's an insult, really.

What they hell are they thinking over there? I would really, really like to know. Are they that out of touch with the market and consumer base? Or are they just stuck with their religious fanbase... ...as in, they can't compete with modern devices so they try to keep their dedicated market all to themselves. I don't think that will go well for them. You can only rest on your laurels for so long before you actually have to do something that begets the reputation you have earned. People are gonna continue wising up to the fact that they are not making devices that can truly compete.

I dunno, maybe these are backwards mods made for backwards people by backwards people. Maybe they all got into them back in PV's glory days and have literally never used anything else since then.

Just doing some looking around, Provari fans these days do not make a very good case for the company... ...I'm impressed at their mental back-flip skills. Even they gotta know they're fulla shit. How can you not? Just seems to me that it would be easier to admit to yourself that your loyalty coerced you into to buying absurdly-overpriced junk, buy any of the cheaper, better options, and move on with your life. Why go through the trouble of convincing yourself of something that nobody with a brain would believe just to validate a terrible purchase decision?

There's just so much about this that I'm not comprehending right now. I'm starting to think the folks over at Provape are trolling everyone and even the fanboys are in on it. Makes about as much sense as anything else.

P.S. @f1r3b1rd I read your discussion in a certain comment section and I applaud your effort, but I question your sanity.

my sanity left A LONG TIME AGO
- I blame the head injury and the ex-wife
as to your assessment of the mod, I wholeheartedly agree. I own 3 dna200 mods, arguable the echelon of vape tech today. This purchase was a combination of nostalgia and vindication.

@f1r3b1rd...be sure and let us know what you think of the new solid end cap...
oh, I'm sure to write a nice long review.
Here's what I have so far

  • 50w
  • 11.5a limit
  • will fire to a 0.4ohm at full 50w
  • will fire what it can lower (unsure of how low)
  • solid 18650 tube
  • comes with a Samsung 25r
  • one button operation
  • the caps are available for the p2.5 and p3
  • automatically adjustable 510 and p3 threading
  • low voltage protection is supposed to let you run the battery down to 2.8v
  • my unit shipped at 1415 today so when I get it i'll jot down my first impressions.

Interesting. I am no stranger to spending a couple hundred on a mod, but this one just seems to follow the trend of current Provape products of being lacking for the bottom line. Maybe there will be a good deal on a used or a blem if my interest level changes.
