I started building coils the other day and..

hello, so I've recently got into building and using my two twisted messes RDA's.
My last build came out to be a 0.29/sometimes a 0.32 on other mod's, but currently I'm running it at 0.29 on my SMOK R80
In wattage mode at 80w and it's the best build I've made so far, only worries I have about it is one side of my coils, the coil is turning a darker color than the other side - why is that?
Am I in danger or anything?
I pulsed the coils quite a bit because one side (probably the side that's darker now) wouldn't glow like it should have been, maybe I burnt it off the getko? Or would I know if I ruined it by flavor?
I mean, his build is working better than any other builds I've had put together so far, I have another build in my 2nd twisted messess RDA, and it's a 0.2 - the 0.29/0.32 one I built is running much better than that one flavor wise - but I'm not having the one side being black problem as I am with the 0.29/0.32 build.
I'm using anarchist Kanthal wire - I believe the 0.29/0.32 build I'm talking about was made with 24g wire if I'm not mistaken.
And it works awesome, like I said - I'm just wondering if it's possible I may be risking my health because one of the coils is much darker then the other - almost like it's been charred.
I'll snap a photo and post it up for you guys to check out.

This happens to me often. It could be an airflow issue (less air on the darker coil) or that it has hot spots. Or that the darker one has a slightly lower resistance than the cleaner one. I will often check each coils resistance on the ohm meter to make sure they match

Is it unsafe to use them this way?
I have found that opening airflow on both sides over the cotton part kicks more flavor up - but I try to keep the air slots on the coils themselves most times

I wouldn't think it is unsafe, but it will start to make the vape taste burnt in my experience. I've noticed that the longer I've built coils this problem has stopped. Maybe caused by overworking and over pulsing the coils.

on the left coil, I count 11 wraps, on the other I count 10. Maybe it's my computer screen, but that would cause the 10 wrap (right coil in picture) to heat up more than the other. Just a guess.

I have built coils where they are the same amount of wraps, but one is a bit farther from the mounting points and that is enough o make them not glow 100% evenly. I'm OCD about it actually and continue to mess with the build until they glow 100% even.

I went back and counted as well. The ten wrap is lower resistance than the 11 wrap, which will cause it to heat quicker and burn juice/cotton

If the coils are different, that'll do it! And the one on the right does seem to have one wrap less.

Basically, that will happen when there is a large enough variance. It can happen between the two coils and even on a single coil (where one side darkens more quickly).

It can be caused by quite a few things.. cotton density, cotton length, resistance, airflow, etc. It can even happen if the cotton is touching a post, or a coil leg.

No danger in it, unless its shorting, but if the difference is big enough it can affect the vape experience.
