So there is a vape mail thread and a hand check thread. There is no thread for when you go to the local store and pick up some vape gear. Juice, mods, attys you name it, post it here. I found a local shop that is friendly and has pretty good prices so I picked this up yesterday.

I try to buy from local shops as much as I can. I will pay a reasonable amount more to have it that day and support small local business. If I can get something within $5-$15 of online prices I will buy it. Well, depending on what I'm looking for. I wouldn't pay $15 extra for a clone Etc... I spent a few buck more on the sig, but I had it that day and the red ones are like a needle in a haystack and I've been trying to find one online. Add the shipping that web shops would charge and I spent about $15 more. Well with it for the pleasure of going home and using it along with getting the hard to find color I wanted.

So post your buys and support your local small business and economy. Do not let your self get ripped off in the process though. Some B&m shops are beyond insane with their price mark up.

I also supported my local vape shop by paying a couple bucks more. 120 for the sig150, 40 for the clt. Id much rather pay for the customer support when buying electronics. Im lucky to have a good shop, with good guys and competitive prices. I feel good helping them succeed.

On the other end, a local tobacco shop also had the sig150..... for 200dollars! They will never know they completely lost my business the second I saw that, well maybe, because I just walked out.

Last Saturday I picked up a bottle of house made juice from a local made B&M, (decent juice, at a decent price) and a ohm reader, a few bucks more than I could have got it online, but i was there and didn't have to wait for shipping.

Sunday I picked up a SMPL mod, I needed a compact mech mod in a hurry (before vacation) and new I couldn't wait for one, and it wasn't too bad on price either

Sorry for not having pics lol

I mostly like to buy juice locally, i prefer to try before I buy, but I have a hard time paying A LOT more for hardware. Some places charge about double what you can get stuff for online (40-50 for clone RDAs and 50-60 for clone mechs, $60 for istick20s)

I paid 129, but the run 109-119 online and like I said the red was with the extra to me. Plus you figure you will pay 2.50-$5 to ship the 109-119.

My Doge was 35, but it also is a special edition for north east Ohio vapers. Local group.

@Panther1911 picks are not mandatory lol.

I always try to buy local, but some things aren't worth it, clones for example. They're usually about double the price of online. I like buying juice and different gauge wires to experiment with though. I'm lucky to have a shop where they have a huge selection and competitive prices on authentic stuff!

Last time I went to a vape store they tried to sell me an IPV mini for $100 that was readily available online for $49.... never going back there!

Last time i went to a local i spent $60 on a istick 20w. I will never buy hardware from another shop again just because of that bad experience. Juice is another thing i suppose.

Wish I had the luck of the first two posters - I've been to plenty of B&Ms and have yet to find one that comes within 10-15% of having competitive pricing...I'd gladly pay a couple bucks extra to support local business, even $10-15 extra for something like a new-generation VW box mod.

Last week I popped into a shop just to kill a few minutes and see what was "new" - and it was a $100 Sig 30 mini.

Support locally, save globally. ..
I just found a new LVS branched from myrtle beach.
a bit pricey but it's a far cry from the 2 others.
one is a "cafe" with almost no sales other then some juice and beverages, the other is so sterile and impersonal that it feels like an apple store.

Anyways, I bought a Ksub mini and a few house flavors to show support.
I'm comparison, the new LVS is Slightly more expensive on HW but I walked out with 3 new flavors (30ml) and a kanger sub mini for $58.

There is very good selection of authentic and high end gear here in Hawaii and at very good prices, but just be sure to stay away from all the shopping mall e-cig kiosks though ;)

1426146464413.jpg Both bought at a local shop. I definitely paid extra, and I definitely don't care. My entire city is crumbling and closing up. Next it could be my job. I'll do my best to keep these guys open, super nice and knowledgeable with great costumer service. These are things I never mind paying extra for

The cafe part is cool to me though. I was going to open a shop but, di to my mother having health issues I had to abandon ship. The market is flooded around here now.

I was going to ha e a cafe in the shop. I would have had a large selection though. That was going to be part if the sales gimic. I wanted a full functioning coffee cafe and tables. Then the other side was going to be a lounge with a big screen. 10% off juice on game day of you were watching it at the shop. Stuff like that. There is only strarbuks around here. No where to get a good ADORABLE expresso Ect... So it would have had to nitches to fill in the area. Most people around here are fine with vaping around them so they would have at least came in to get a cup Togo and most people wouldn't mind sitting and chilling as long as there was a good vent system to keep I from looking like London on a rainy day from the fog.

My thing was that juice makes your money. Youre better off having good juice at a good price and making a smaller profit on the mods. Most people buy gear once and juice all the time. Makes since to make 5-10 less from their mod because you make it back with the first 2-4 bottles they buy from you. Plus hobby peeps like us will go in and buy the hell out of mods and RDA Etc... If prices are good so sales would be higher as well. There is plenty of ways for a B&M to make money without a 100-300% mark up on their mods and attys.

There are a few B&Ms around us that are total crap. Charging 100-150% markups on clones and not even the good ones.

There is one good shop though, their prices are about on par with online pricing, Sig 100 is $99, authentic Doge for $40 etc... and they give a %15 military/veterans discount so I wind up paying roughly what I would pay online without having to worry about or pay for shipping. They also make great juice and I know that is where the real profit is. You can sell someone a mod once but they still need to get the juice to put in it!

Even though I'm in a small town, there are three shops nearby. One has a surly owner, who when asked for a recommendation always points out the most expensive stuff he has. Another is owned by a sweet lady with awful juice and the cheapest junk clones you can imagine. The third is a young husband and wife who are totally helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, their hardware prices are really high. I still make myself buy things there as I want them to succeed and as a partial payment for all the good advice. My recent "feel guilty" buy was a Sigelei 30W, battery, and Kanger Nano for about $85. The last was for a IStick 30 for $70. I've talked to the owner and I think he understands my position, as he is aware of the Istick 50, MVP 3.0, and Aspire subohm setup I got from the internet.

Pretty much it's that every so often I grit my teeth and pay his prices. I figure it's a fee for all the things he helps me out on as I'm still learning a lot.

Recently purchased some Dragon Chi and Poison Apple from a B&M. Thinking about getting a mechanical mod there since I dunno how the hell to get into those and they seem friendly enough to explain, as apposed to several others around here.

I'm lucky in the Toronto area that there are two good vape shops. I buy my DIY supplies from one all the time and they also have pretty good prices on hardware so I've bought a bunch of that from them over the years. I just picked up a new Xtar WP2s from the other shop. They had it in stock and gave me 25% off which sealed the deal :)

Airflow is all at the top. You set your coils high and you can put a generous amount of cotton in the juice well. Flavor is excellent and this does not leak.

Went back for a second time to a B&M I just recently discovered. Went in looking to just pick up a bottle of juice to hold me over until a delivery on Monday and ended up walking out with an authentic Mutation V3. To be honest I played a considerable bit more than I would have online, but the owners are two of the friendliest business owners I've ever met and, worming for a small business myself, I am willing to pay more to support good, knowledgeable customer service and truly helpful people. Its my first true RDA (I have an Aqua V2 that is nothing but a leaky mess in RDA mode) and I'm in love with the thing.

I got a DOGE NEO edition when I got my sig. If I didn't get it I was going to get a mutation v2 or 3 from another shop. He had the v2 for 30 and v3 for 35. I found it kinda funny. The only real different is the top cap with the 510 drip tip adapter and online the V3 is 5-10 cheaper with the extra part. I would have more than likely got the v2 to save 5. I wouldn't use the adapter anyway. My LB came with one and it got thrown into the spare parts box.

I am a little shocked. When I started this thread I didn't think it would get many post because everyone bashes B&M shops. There are some good ones out there.

Yep. So far it's a great atty. I've only done single coil builds on it so far using 30g twisted Ni200 but Rips review claims this thing is really supposed to shine with dual coils which I'll try out soon with my IPV2S.

I have to say my only gripe is that the top cap comes off too easy although the reviews claim this is fixed with the replacement O-ring that comes in the box. I just can't try it yet because the B&M owner sold it to me from his personal collection and forgot the box although he is going to drop it by my house this week.

And how is the Tugboat? I've heard really good things. I'm actually considering a V2 Detroit Edition from a different B&M. Their price is $90 but I also have a 25% off coupon which will bring it down to $67.50.

Picked up this lil' fella-the Aethertech VCO v2 mod at a place down in Ft. Lauderdale. For an authentic mod made in the USA it was not a bad price at ALL. I paid $80 for it, only a few bucks more than i saw it for online, but the people online don't hang out and put up with my incessant babbling haha. I enjoy having a place to go and nerd out, so i support the shops as much as possible. Its a great lil mod, a smaller than the SMPL by a few mm. Hybrid top cap and magnetic switch. Hits pretty damn hard considering it's aluminum. And it looks SO pretty with my black Petri atty on top haha

I'll be honest in saying that I played a bit more that even $35. In the stores defense though, they price all of their RDAs within 5 bucks of one another. An authentic Big Dripper would have cost the same amount, which is less than what you can find them for online. I guess that they figure it evens out across all their sales. But they also threw in a half a dozen needle dripper bottles, which I needed anyway and a 510 drip tip, so I can't complain.

I've been lucky. I live in western PA (half an hour from Pittsburgh) and of the 3 shops I've tried so far I can only say one was truly bad (I believe my girlfriends words when we left was "I hope you didn't lean on anything and get hepatitis"). The other two have their pros and cons. One is cheaper but has a great juice lineup, the other is more expensive but a much better hardware selection . I split my business pretty much equally between the two because they've both shown to be extremely helpful and didn't come across as pushy or just out to make a buck. I still buy online a lot due to budget constraints, but I like the atmosphere of both stores so I still probably hit each weekly for at least 1 small purchase.

I really like my tugboat V2. I have had it for a long time too. I went into the altsmoke down by my school to get a IPV2 (it was when they just came out) I went in and was looking around and seen the tug. I didn't even know they were out I had only seen the v1tug. They guy said they just got it that day and the were just released. I wasn't going to get it because it is not my style to spend that much on a atty, but my old lady said my eyes lit up and literally forced me to buy it. I am glad I did. The only issue I have had and I end up with on all my attys is the centerpin started spinning. You can get the grommets' to fix it on flawless site, I just haven't done it.

It gives really good flavor and vapor. I cant say enough about it. It is still in my Main rotation after all this time. I can not remember when I got it, but the IPV2 was just released as well. It has been a while. I paid 89.99, but that was the going price. Nice thing about altsmoke is that although their web prices are a bit high on something's, the B&M has the same pricing as the web. Going into a store spending $235 and walking out with a IPV2, authentic tugboat, 2 Sony vtc4, 60ft of wire and 3 bottles of niquid isn't bad at all. Like I said the ipv2 had just came out. The were $99 on most web sites. Altsmoke had them on site for 110, but $10 to have it that day, I would have spent half that getting it shipped from a web dealer.

Oh, if you do the math for the prices vs what I got it will give you a idea of the rewards program they have.

Went into a local shop to buy some juice and kanthal to hold me over until my vape mail arrives this week. Their juice is ok like $10 for 15 ml and they have good flavors and will mix to whatever VG/PG you wish. Looked around while they helped the customer before me and was shocked at their prices, I have never bought hardware from them and now I'm glad I never did. They wanted $40-$50 for CLONE RDA's. They had sigelei 100w(not 150w or 100w+) for $140. The thing that surprised me the most was they had VTC4's in stock.... For $20 a pop. Anyway rant over, happy Easter!!

Well, I fear the B&M I was raving about will no longer be getting my business. My sig 150 just stopped working. I took a drag sat it on the table, picked it back up 5 minutes later and it wouldn't fire. It will not work at all. I contacted them and the basically said oh well. I had it less than a month. I got it on the 11th of march and it died about the 27th give or take a few days. There return policy was 14 days. So I spent $40 more to support a local business and they did not support me. If I would have went to altsmoke I would have had a 30 day like it or leave it. I would have a new mod and be vaping. Then to make things worse I thought my receipt was in the sig box. When I took the box out of the bag it was half open. I shut it put it in my vape box and pitched the bag. The receipt fell out of the box and git pitched. I contacted the business to see if I could get a copy of the slip to send it in to the factory to get fixed. They had no records system. They remembered me coming in. I said I there any way you could ring one up, then void it so I can send it back? At that point it wouldn't effect their records and I could get it fixed. Well they will not do that either. They said they would print a blank receipt. Issue is without proof of sale the factory warranty means jack shit. So I have a overpriced paper weight.

Rant over, but trying to figure out how to get this fixed is not.

My sig 150 just stopped working.

My Sig 100w Plus did the same thing about a week ago. It was the solder connection to the devices positive post. I fixed. Was furious (3 months old). Now I'm not.

Details: Four visible screws holding all the plastic in place inside. Two hidden screws under the Quality control stickers underneath/between the batteries.

With the battery tray free (ish - wires still hold it but it is completely manipulate-able):
I saw, removed the devices positive post, grabbed the loose wire with the solder on the end, heated my solder iron and soldered them back together. (First time ever soldering)(harbor freight-> cheapy solder iron and flux filed solder)

Replaced screws: Vaped on- as instructed

Good Luck!
<Edit>
Solder iron (due to my inexperience and ignorance) burnt no less than THREE freakin-Frackin marks into my battery tray.... I had to use a razor knife to make the burbely bumps smooth again so the battery door would sit flush again.... on this point, I succeeded about 95%. Thus, I conclude: Be Careful with the soldering iron and the plastic battery sled
</edit>

<Edit 2>
- Sorry for the off topic post !

I tried to support my local B&M. Got them a ton of likes on Facebook. Bought a bottle of juice with cinnamon in it and the cap completely tore off. Luckily I had it in a plastic bag. Showed the employee there the picture I took and he said he wasn't authorized to refund $4. Asked him to have the owner give me a ring which never happened.
Never trashed them on Facebook as they would probably just delete the post. Way overpriced except for an aspire vv stick.
Lost me forever.

I dont do local Vape shops at all. They are too expensive in my experience. Most of us on these forums are a very small percentage of the vaping public and we as a group are just too damn savy to shop local or we wouldnt be supporting each other with alll of our knowledge, information and letting each other know where the best deals are. I like riding the crest of the vaping wave and that means learning from all of you fine folks and ordering vape mail for me.

Edit: Plus Vape Mail is fun !!

I did buy my first two large RDAs and my first VV/VW at a Karma in Indiana. VV/VW is what got me to quit and the RDAs were on a Friday night bored at home. I have enough gear now I'll never impulse anything but juice or coil or minor accessories. Paid 2x online price for my vv and probably 3x for the RDA clones. Well compared to FastTech

Shops are more expensive for a reason though. They have a lot more overhead then an online store not to mention they are also the ones spending the time and money fighting city, county and state legislation for your right to vape.

I've tried to support the local B&M's but I haven't gotten past a few small purchases...fact is that it's hard to pay their really over the top high prices when you know what this stuff can be had for online. I understand the whole overhead thing, but if their markup over what I can get this stuff for was a bit more reasonable I'd be down for paying a little more to spend my cash locally....60 bucks for a 30 dollar Subtank, 70 bucks for a 25 dollar clone, 180 bucks for a Sigelei 150....sorry to say it aint gonna happen anytime soon....

Do you know all of your B&M's though because those are certainly not the prices I'm paying. I've never seen those kind of prices in a store around me. The 150w Sigelei is $90 to $100 most places and even when it was new, I never saw it higher then $130.

I did buy my HANA MODZ V4d for $240 vs $209 on the internet but that also included enough rewards points for a free Subtank. I just bought a full size Lemo last week for $33.

I used to have a similar opinion about B&M's until I discovered a local Facebook group and five B&M's that I never even knew existed.

Yup, that's the pricing in these parts...in my area, there were zero B&M's here a year and a half ago an then one opened in a neighboring town...a little while later, another opened, and a couple of months ago, another...they are all very expensive...the Lemo you just mentioned for 33 bucks is 55 bucks at the local shops here...if I had stores here with the kind of B&M pricing that you enjoy, I'd rethink my position....like I said, I dont mind paying a little extra to support the local guys....I'm just not gonna get fleeced...or bent over...especially since they dont even offer a complimentary reach-around during it...

Well perhaps when more stores open, the prices will come down. There are a couple places I won't shop because they are too high but these are generally Tobacco hybrid shops, ripping off their former tobacco customers because it's still cheaper then smoking.

And sometimes it's not the B&M's fault at all and it's due to their distributor gouging them in the first place. One store here used to be like that until they started ordering elsewhere.

What's funny, is that the Tobacco Hybrid shop in my area is part of a huge chain and has some of the best prices I've seen for a brick and mortar...at least on most stuff...some of their stuff is priced so competitively with online vendors that I just buy what I want from them in many cases...they have a tobacco area up front and a large vape area in the back of the store....and they stock all the good stuff...

I didn't realize you were in Michigan and I'm sure you are talking about Wild Bills which really does have good prices. They weren't always that way though and used to want $60 for a Chinese eGo starter kit. Meanwhile other hybrids want $7.99 for an Atlantis coil.

Do yourself a favor and join the Michigan Vapors Club Facebook group. You will find out about some of the better shops, juice companies, etc. Its an excellent community and we are over 2000 members strong.

I live in Central Florida which as of right now is an amazing place to live for a vaper. We have so many local shops that are growing into chains, like shops that have multiple locations. A bunch of shops are working on or producing their own juices and they are mostly very friendly and helpful. They are great places to go an hangout. I love buying from them, because for one I get everything right away, and I can try it before I buy it.

I've learned to never buy on impulse and know my prices before hand. I enjoy the people at a couple of local shops and even though they gouge, I grab a bottle of juice, a battery, or a trinket item like a drip tip to keep the connection.

Yup...Wild Bills...there's one in Bay City...after going into the regular vape shops, I dropped by there after hearing about them and was amazed at how much cheaper they were than the regular vape shops and by how much current vape gear they stocked...

I joined that group long ago...unfortunately, most of the activity is way far downstate (I live near Saginaw) and I rarely get down that way...I will be at VapeXpo (again) though...:)

Yea, come to think of it, there really isn't much your way. I remember wishing there was a vape shop when I spent three nights in Frankenmuth, last month. The only thing the group said was up that way was a shop called The Vapor House in Saginaw which was too far of a drive for me. Is that one of the expensive shops you mentioned?

Anyways, even if it is, I notice they sell juice from Independent Vapor Co which is really good stuff. If you haven't tried it yet, their Nillionaire is one of the most popular juices in Michigan.
