iJoy Captain & Sub Ohm TFV8 Big Baby question.

Hello!
I recently bought this set-up but I have a problem. I'm running in Power Mode and can find the perfect hit anywhere between 36 and 50 Watts. Problem I am having is that whenever I take a few hours break between vapes, the taste completely changes and I need to change the wattage to stop the dry hits/throat burn.
I'm using 70% VG Grand Reserve. I have the coils TCR set at m1 @80 and m2@92. Is that all right? Doesn't seem to matter what settings though; it always changes and needs to be adjusted once I've not used it for a few hours.
Does anyone know what's going on or how to keep the vape consistent?
Many Thanks in advance!
Angie

Are you using the RBA deck to build your coils with SS316L? The stock Smok BB coils do not work in temperature control only power. The M1/M2 TCR setting are for TC compatible coils only.

Hey Thanks for reply. I'm not building no, I'm using the V8 X4 coil that came pre-installed. I would like to move into building now I have all the parts but wanted to use up these coils that came with it first and get used to the feel of it all moving up to this advanced model from a crappy VIP mod.

And yes, I'm not using TC mode; the degrees I'm not altering, just Wattage mode and the coil temps. It's weird because it can be vaping PERFECT at say 45w, then I sleep for 7 hours, take a hit and it's like UGGGHHH!!!

You seem to be in Temp mode. In Power/Watts mode, the only thing you can adjust is the wattage. There should be no TCR option in Power/Watts mode. If it's showing you a Degrees setting on the screen, then you are definitely in Temp mode.

It could honestly just be you. I normally use wattage mode and I've noticed that I have to change the watts a bit for throat hit and flavor purposes throughout the day. Usually I wake up and i have to start at like 50ish then by the end of the night im up at 75-80 depending on my juice. Also recently I dropped my nic level down and noticed a significant decrease in the amount of throat hit I get. Sometimes before it was even uncomfortable to vape at any wattage. When i switched from my lil prebuilt single coil tank to a Blazer Pro (similar to a TFV12, even uses same coils) I couldn't even take a toot without coughing unless i had it turned down very low. YMMM

Thanks for the feedback. I think you're right Max. And Gakadzu, there's Temp Control Mode and TCR mode - 2 different things. I have it on wattage mode with the bottom display reading voltage not temperature. It is fiddly after periods of not using it but when it hits the note - BANG! Also, I am using 18mg nicotine but will drop to 12 or maybe even 6 on my next order because the hit from this thing is HUGE!
Cheers again for the feedback x

In temperature control you can use the preset setting for Nickel, Titanium or Stainless Steel coils. The TCR mode is a user defined temperature control setting for wires other than the default presets. You would use a TCR of 0.00138 for Stainless Steel 430 wire or a TCR of 0.00525 for Nifethal 70 wire, they are really not two different things. It doesn't matter what you enter for the TCR settings with Kanthal or Nichrome wire (Smok Coils), they cannot be controlled.

I would suggest you give Daniels video a watch so you can learn what temperature control is and what it actually works with.
