Hey! FDA! Yeah, you.

You say that there is only anecdotal evidence that vaping helps people quit smoking. Well fuck you. Tomorrow morning at approximately 0730, I become living proof that you asshats have no clue WTF you are talking about.

TWO years without a cigarette after 30 years with them. I didn't even TRY to quit. My wife asked me to try, so I bought my first Kanger EVOD starter kit just to 'get me by long enough to make it look like I was really trying quit'.

One week after, I just stopped smoking. I haven't smoked since. I am NOT a quitter. I never quit smoking I just stopped smoking because I like vaping better. Plain and simple.

I'm 50. I feel so much better than I have in years. I can snorkel again. I can go up and down stairs all day long without gasping for air. I can deal with summer heat much, much, much better. It doesn't make me feel like I am suffocating. Everything tastes better. I can smell things again. I don't get colds or sinus infections any more. Flying is so much better now that I can stealth vape my way through the whole trip. No more leaving the movie theater, restaurant, or bars to get a nic fix. Life is awesome!
Disclaimer: A friend of mine that had also quit smoking via vaping and I bummed a cigarette off of a friend at the 2014 NYE party. We went outside and took 1 puff each. We put it out, and returned the remainder to its owner. Both of us gagged on it. He smoked for 35 years, and I smoked for 30 years, and the two of us couldn't take more than 1 puff each. THAT was the last puff, but I don't count it as breaking a stop smoking attempt. I see it as confirmation that I had gone past stopping to stopped.

Very cool... I didn't have a VU banner, so I uploaded a screen grab of the one from the 'forum that shall not be named'. VU took out the ugly color scheme, and added its own name. Sweet!

Let me be the first here to say congratulations.
You will continue to be an anecdote until the Feds spend at least 50 million on studies. Even then, only if the study agrees with their preconceived opinions. At least they aren't calling you a fluke.

Congratulations on the milestone, MD_Boater!

I followed a path similar to your own, After vaping for a week, cigarettes tasted too nasty to continue.

Congrats on the 2 year mark! Same deal with the cigs - quit in like May 2013, on the 4th of July I bummed a smoke from a buddy after a few barley pops...took 2 or 3 drags, snubbed it out and grabbed my vape (at the time a lowly eGo/Evod combo). No looking back...
