Frank Miller has a curious reputation among many Batman fans. He's widely regarded as one of the most influential Batman creators of all time thanks to works like The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One. Yet he's also treated as a pariah for more recent projects like The Dark Knight Strikes Again and All-Star Batman & Robin. In a sense, Miller has become the George Lucas of the comic book industry - beloved for his early work and mocked for what came later. But whereas you'd have a hard time arguing that the Star Wars prequels are worthy of the original trilogy, Miller's Batman work is much more cohesive than many people like to believe. Miller and his work deserve more respect than they receive from readers.
