In Praise of the Ego One Mega (yeah that's right)

image.jpeg Last year, I got my first Evic VTC mini, it was then and still is one of my favorite mods. When I first got it, I immediately slapped my freemax Starre on top and was happy as can be. A couple weeks later I was reading about Ti wire and really wanted to try it. At that point I remembered my ego one came with a Ti coil so I tried it out and Thought it was pretty good. The tank was far more restricted than everything else I was using so it was not very appealing at the time. Unfortunately, the Evic crapped out on me and I exchanged it for a IPV D2 (the Evic has since been replaced).

Fast forward to present time and I have far more tanks then I need, each attempting to out do each other with airflow and vapor production. It made miss the mellow vape I got from the ego one with a Ti coil. While browsing the for sale section of this site I found a member who was selling both the ego one and the mega for a very reasonable price so I bought them. I don't really use the ego one but the mega with a Ti coil has worked its way into my daily rotation. The other two tanks I'm currently using are the Silo beast and the Herakles plus so the mega is a nice break from the heavy hitters and makes for a great stealth vape when paired with the IPV D2.

Just thought I'd show a little love for a tank that never gets any.

I liked mine but they really came alive for me when I discovered how much better it was
with the CL-R (rebuildable) coil heads and stainless steel coils.
I have one of those coming. I'm looking forward to trying it out. Any idea if Ti wire is difficult to work with compared to Kanthal? I'm very inexperienced with building.

I vastly prefer SS to Ti or NI200. I've never built w/ Ti wire. (I've used heads only) SS has noticeably better flavor IMO.

SS is not difficult to work with. BTW, you can build horizontal or vertical with the CL-R heads. (start with horizontal)
Kanthal is also easy and tastes great but can't be used in TC, whereas the SS can be used both ways.
The SS 316L has a unique "clean" taste compared to all other metals I've used.

jm .02

I too much prefer SS to anything else for stainless and didn't consider that by rebuilding my own coils I can use whatever wire I want.

Another thing about the CL-R heads is they wick better than the non-rebuildable heads. Waaay better.
The regular heads have those tiny little wicking holes making 50% VG the thickest juice I could chain-vape.

The CL-R heads can take 80% VG without any dry hits under heavy use.

The normal CL heads were probably the worst coils I've tried so far. Nothing but dry hits, then floods, then dry hits, then floods.
I also had a couple badly machined ones, one even had a decent sized metal fragment sitting just atop the screen.
They also had a bad habit of firing burnt black flakes into my lungs.

First time using the CLR heads was like walking through the gates of flavour heaven

Let us know how you like the CLR heads.
Will do. I have a friend who has two he has never used in exchange for some Halo juice I'll never vape. I might be coming back here for tips as I'm not very good at building my own coils.

It took me about a month to get really good at building my own contact micro coils and twisted Ni80 coils (I need to order more Ni80, that stuff has great flavor if you use Mechs/ power mode)

If your going to be using TC wire and the coils need to be spaced anyway I would suggest grabbing a screw or bolt with threading that has the same diameter your looking for and wrap it in the valleys of the threading, then just back the bolt/ screw out and you have a perfectly spaced coil. It only took me about 10min and three tries to get that method down and I used it for a while before I took the time to learn how to build spaced coils on a screwdriver.
(I would soak it in Dawn or similar then give it a good wipe down to get the machine oil off of the screw)

Lots of u-tube videos to help some, but it does take some practice and experimentation.

I don't like, I love. I use it with .3 Atlantis coils at 55-65 watts and the flavor and vapor is great. It's well made, has plenty of air flow and is versatile. The above pick is with the long sleeve installed that holds around 5 mls of juice and there is also a short sleeve that holds around 3. They also make a black one that I plan on getting. Here is a pic of the short sleeve. Looks nice on the RX...
