Independence Day director Roland Emmerich is reportedly set to direct the movie adaptation of author Blake Crouch's sci-fi bestseller, Dark Matter.
Deadline reports that Emmerich is still in early talks with Sony to helm Dark Matter, with Matt Tulmach (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Jumanji) producing the movie. Dark Matter tells the story of college physics professor Jason Dessen who was once a brilliant quantum physicist. Now living with his girlfriend and son in Chicago, Dessen is suddenly abducted into a world where his theory about alternate dimensions has actually been adapted into a piece of world-hopping technology. With his family gone, Dessen sets out on a mission to somehow get back to his former life.
