Inexpensive coatings you can diy?

I'd like to coat my mod to give it a new finish. Ceramic coating comes to mind, but open to others as long as it ends up with a completely new finish. I live in an apartment complex, and don't really have a super well-ventilated area. I can spray paint it, but I don't really want to. Is there any inexpensive way I can do something for around $10-20? I'm not exactly sure what type of finish I prefer, I think either a glossy black or maybe even a brass finish would be cool. There are some gouges from when I got the threads stuck and had to twist them apart with pliers. This mod was given to me and it had a dent in the threads, I tried to pull the dent out and the threads got stuck. I eventually got it fixed, I had to file some of the threads down but it works fine now. The gouges from the pliers are the main reason I want a new finish. This is a stainless steel nemesis clone I run in 18650 mode. I know I could just buy another but I'm unemployed at the moment. My wife and I moved from one state to another back in April and I haven't found a job yet. So any advice would be appreciated.

Nothing really comes to mind without spraying, plasti dip is an option but a little thick for what your doing. I just got some rubberized plasti spray and the stuff works great but it is far from permanent. Really hard to find stuff that will hold up with how much a mod will be handled. You could always get some universal vinyl and try a wrap of some sort.

But without an industrial way to apply coatings I have found not much will turn out great and if it turns out great it probably won't hold up.....

Well, it looks like a wrap can be had on the Bay for under $10, most likely will go with that option. Thanks for the replies!

Check in your area for a company that does electroplating, perhaps a company that rechromes car bumpers or a company that replates silver.
The black coating on the Crown is electroplate. As far as the gouges, a buffing wheel.

I've found samples of vinyl film for auto body on eBay, two pieces of black carbon fiber, 4" x 8", for $2.65 with free shipping. I'm going to order some soon. It doesn't say how long it's supposed to last, but we'll see. With two 4x8" pieces, I can cover my mod multiple times anyway. I was refunded for a recent eBay transaction because I was dissatisfied with the shipping time, so as soon as that refund is processed to my credit card, I'm going to order the vinyl film.

You can sand that puppy and if you wish you can Flame color it.. depending on the grade of stainless it is not for the faint of heart on a Tube mod

Sounds more or less like something I don't have tools for anyway. The vinyl wrap is pretty cheap, and a lot easier than heating methods. All I have to do with the vinyl is trim and apply.

I have one I just drilled a bunch of holes in.. I think next time I go to the range Im going to shoot one

www.ebay.com/itm/380387601195 so this is what I ordered. We'll see how it goes once it gets here. I plan to wrap the tube and the locking ring but leave the top and bottom caps as they are, stainless because nothing is really wrong with them.

Yeah, $13.50 for one wrap? No thanks. I just got two pieces of 4x8" black carbon fiber vinyl film for $3 shipped. Idk if plating will cover the gouges but I doubt it and I can't beat the price of $3 for enough material to do probably ten tubes.

So here is how it came out. It's not perfect, but I feel it's much better than it was. This vinyl is very durable and should last a long time. I did my drip tip because I hate the feel and taste of cold metal on my lips. I also did the drip tip on my tank (not pictured).

I'm surprised nobody recommended replacing it completely for $15. Check out FastTech.

Even if I'd replaced it, I still like the carbon fiber better.
