Installing battery ribbon?

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but couldn't find anywhere better.

I am not a modder by any means. My building stops at coils. But I just got a Tesla Invader Mini for really cheap and the batteries (dual 18650) are very difficult to remove. In case it's not obvious from the question, there's no ribbon. Certainly, it would be nice to be able to get them out with less effort on a day-to-day basis, but with such an inexpensive mod I also want to be able to get them out quickly if something goes wrong.

I'm sure it's not too difficult but I don't even know where to begin.

Can anyone give me some guidance on material and best way to actually affix it to the mod?

I searched/Googled... it is very possible that I wasn't using the right search terms but nothing really came up.

Thanks in advance.

Ed: DirectVapor (where I purchased the device) says aluminum construction, and the only place I could reasonably glue or affix a ribbon does appear the be aluminum.

Take a piece of ribbon, that any flower shop uses to decorate their flower arrangements, make sure it is long enough to make a big loop so your batteries will fit inside of it, tie the loose ends into a knot that will sit between the batteries, now put it inside your mod fit batteries into it and bob is your uncle use the knot to pull out your batteries.

Thanks, that is indeed a good idea. I would also like to know the best adhesive to use on aluminum, should I decide to go a more permanent route.

But really, that's great, I appreciate it!

You`re welcome, you can try double sided tape however that may not work as well as gorilla glue or supper glue, never tried it myself

I'm sure it's not too difficult but I don't even know where to begin.

Well, if nothing else... now I'll get alerts for this thread. :D

I have one of the wood pistol grip versions and... my gawd, that sled is tight.
Incredibly, unbelievably, uselessly tight.

(mine's boxed and elsewhere ATM)
I'm guessing it's not an easy disassemble, or that there's a ribbon slot in the sled.
Normally, the ribbon just has a knot at one end and is fed through the slot.

For these... if there's no easy way to attach one, I'll probably just use enough to lay across the sled, around one side and then back and under the other cell. An "S" figure.

Should be easy enough to use... and not lose, the ribbon. "Should be". :p

@Jim_MDP For sure, if nothing else works then that's the way to do it. I figure even if I lose ribbon constantly, a roll will last long enough!

As I mentioned above, just don't know what adhesive I'd even try to use on aluminum. Nor am I sure if I want to start gluing things to my new mod, $20 or not.

I will say that the slots seem to be breaking in a little, but they are still TIGHT.

Glad to hear about the tension possibly easing up.
I don't mech, but bought a handful and basically just function tested most of them so I've only installed and removed a pair just the once.

Guess I should put a roll of ribbon on the shopping list.

Co-Op anyone? :p

I do like unregulated OK, but prefer MOSFET protection. At least it's something. I'm not sure what the story with your version is, if it's basically the same mod in a different case or what. I have one full mech for the dark days just in case but the rest of my unregulated devices have a decent amount of protection. I have far more regulated than unregulated, though.

Ribbon is on my shopping list now too! First I'm going to see if I can make it work well enough without attaching it to the mod, and if not I'll have to look into gluing or whatever. Hopefully someone can advise on aluminum adhesive since there's a Lowe's and a Home Depot right next to where I can get ribbon.

Ugh, @Jim_MDP not sure what you'd find on yours but it appears the tolerance of the door on mine may be too tight to even allow a ribbon. There's a small chance I could find something thinner but really this ribbon is about as fine as I could manage without it being too flimsy to work and the door just won't quite fit. I tried the ribbon in a number of different configurations... I may be able to get it close enough to not bother be but idk.

Anyone have any other ideas? I might try to find some other ribbon too, of course, but I'm very frustrated.
