Okay so I finally got one of these little guys in my hands. Keep in mind my only experience with temp control has been my Evic VT, to which I will be comparing the iPV. I used my Velocity RDA ( single Ti Clapton 26g over 26g at .21 ohms) and my Herakles with Saucecode RBA (single 26g Ti, 6 wrap at .28 ohms) to test it out.
Aesthetics: this thing is tiny! Fits great in the hand, nice clicky buttons, and the included silicon sleeve is a nice touch. Makes it a PITA to switch batteries, but if a sturdier sleeve with and open top is available that may make it easier.
Menu: easy to use, easy to scroll through. Just wish I could control the temperature without having to get into the menu system (a la the Evic).
Performance: I get a smooth consistent vape with this, especially when compared to the Evic. Slower ramp up time with the iPV, but that lends to that smoother vape I was talking about. The Evic starts with a burst of power to get the coil going, but after that initial burst the vape is weak. I can actual feel the pulse of the wattage going up and down on it, but not so on the D2.
Battery life: I feel that battery life is pretty good as far as a single 18650 goes. I got about 4 hours out of it at 50J and 475F.
The D2 is a great mod. I have no plans to use it in wattage mode at anything less than 30 watts, so I could care less that it has no step down. This will replace my Evic-VT as my daily driver for sure.
