IPV D2 Wattage capabilities

Hey guys I got my D2 today, great lookin little mod. Smaller then my IPV mini and I thought that was already small haha. Anyways I was hoping someone might have a bit of insight here, does anyone know what the minimum wattage this thing will output? I know it says 7-75w but I doubt it's really dropping that low. For the moment I'm running it in wattage mode as I'm still waiting for my titanium wire to arrive, running it at 20w on my Lemo 2 with a .5ohm build. On my ipv mini it runs great, but toss it on the D2 and it feels like it's running it much hotter.

It probably is running hotter. I don't believe the D2 steps down voltage in power mode. With that said, a fully charged battery at 4.2v with a .5 ohm load would give you about 35 watts.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit: Power (watts)=Voltage^2 / Resistance (ohms)
P= 4.2 x 4.2 / .5
P= 35.28 watts

Ya I figured if it wasn't stepping down the voltage I was going to be floating around there. Well that is unfortunate, maybe I'll have to go pick up a couple nickel occ coils to hold me over till my titanium wire shows up.

In the meantime, if you increase your resistance to around .88 ohms you can get your 20watts. Like having a mech in power mode ;)

Cheers,
Steve

I almost forgot. I believe a workaround is using it in TC mode with Kanthal. It won't TC Kanthal but if you set your Joules to around 20 it should limit you to 20j (which is ~20 watts). Good Luck!

I'll have to check out trying to run it in TC mode using one of my kanthal rba's. As of right now I went and picked up a nickel occ coil from a local brick and mortar and so far it's working great.

You do still have to lock in the resistance for the workaround to work properly.

Good thread, I didn't know about the work around. I may have to give it a try myself. :D

I tested this earlier today and it does work. Running my lemo 2 with a .5 ohm build it felt like it was running the same as on my ipv mini at 20w. I had the D2 set to 20 joules, and did lock in the resistance before firing.
