IPV4 gets warm

Vaping the Dark Horse with a .25 ohm build I noticed my IPV4 gets a little warm after 3 hits back to back at 80w.
But the same build at the same 80w
doesn't make my IPV3 get that warm at all.
So I guess I'm asking if this is normal for the IPV4..Using nichrome 24g for the first time too..any insight would be appreciated.. Thx

If the batteries are getting hot, what batteries are you using in either mod? I had a mod that got hot, due to utilizing a cheap Efest battery. Once I switched it out to a VCT5, no more problem.

I run the 40A AWT batts in both the IPV3 and IPV4.. they don't get hot in either mod...not even warm...

I also removed the charging board on the P4...It could be the RDA transferring heat to the mod that's freaking me out, lol.. But thx for your reply!

Doesn't someone sell like a peak or Delrin kind of washer to go between mod and rda. I remember seeing something like that somewhere.

I think the difference in temp between devices is due to the metal used. I know the 3 and Li are aluminum, and I don't think the 4 is. It's heavier, too. My 4 will get warm from chain vaping, my Mini 2 as well. Batteries are never warm, I think it's just that aluminum doesn't conduct heat well, and whatever the 4 and Mini 2 are made of do. If they're all aluminum, well, mine does the same thing, so I wouldn't worry. My Li which I had to exchange for the Too Hot! Error never got hot, yet the 4 does, but doesn't give Too Hot! I think you're good. Just keep an eye on battery temp, the taco shell makes it super easy to check their temp.

Sounds to me like I would make sure that it's not the batterys getting hot. If it is the batterys you might want to get a better batterys. I have an ipv4 which is made from aluminum which although it dissipates heat well ( not as fast as copper, but that would make it a heavier mod) it could be that it is just absorbing heat from your rda like you said in that case no biggie

if the batteries are staying cooler then the mod then it is either the stepping chip inside warming up from boosting the power and/or heat radiating down from the RDA.

Could try adjusting the pins/screws so the RDA sits half a millimeter or so off the mod to see if that helps.

I slapped an o-ring on the top of the threads on the Freakshow Mini to stop that occasional leakage from getting into the IPV4, as a bonus it keeps the atty about 1mm away from touching the mod itself and really helps keep the device itself cool.

I had been having problems with my ipv4 kept saying check atomizer even with a good build on it. Think that board was messed up. I was messing with it yesterday and one of the batteries caught on fire. They were Samsung batteries.

when you say "I was messing with it" do you mean you took it apart and messed with the internals? I would normally say try a different topper to confirm that its the mod at fault. but in your case If you have messed with the internals and caused a battery short somewhere it would not be worth the risk

Heat is a byproduct of power being dissipated. We want this to happen in the coil of wire. Hi current situations, low builds amplify any other resistances the current has to flow through, and they too will heat up. Dirty, loose connections. Bad solder joints. Mech guys love copper hybrid mods for these reasons. Out regulated mods can have these issues as well. I clean my 510 connections all the time with Q-tips and alcohol. Solder joints can be fixed, but that's more advanced. Please be careful with these batteries. Its always a good idea to take them out when working on a device like this.
