IPV5, so far soooo good!

I got my IPV5 yesterday and have been using it for a full day and a half so thought I might share my experience so far.

I got this to replace my Sigelei 150W TC and so far I am impressed.

Build quality is a lot better than I was expecting. It looks and feels a lot more high end than the price you can pick these up for. The battery door is a lot more solid and stays in place way better than the Sig. The buttons are very nice looking and feel solid with a nice click to them. No rattles, just feels solid.The screen is really bright and recessed which is a nice touch. It does feel a little slippery in the hand due to how smooth it is.

I am thinking the Yihi chip has a fast ramp up as it is noticeable with the Crown using 0.25 ohm coil compared to my RX200. I usually take longer drags to get a lot of clouds with the RX200, with the IPV5 at the same watts shorter hits produce massive clouds. The Crown definitely has a new home on top of the IPV5, it just seems to work better on there. I didn't notice that same difference with the Stentorian Steam Engine, seem to hit the same with the IPV5 and RX200 using the flat wire coil at .30 ohms.

I only use SS TC and mainly with the Herakles Plus. The odd thing about the IPV5 is it's setting for SS TC is SS304 instead of SS316 like mostly all the other mods out there. I tried it out with the Herk Plus and it seemed to work just as well as my RX200. I tried it with my Crown in SS TC mode and it worked about the same too but the Crown I just prefer in straight power mode.

I have a Vapor Flask Stout that is showing up tomorrow. I don't expect much difference in performance over the RX200 since they share the same chip other than 100 watt's less power.

If I notice any problems or quirks with the IPV5 I will post it in this thread.

Yeah, I plan to tweak the TCR later on when I have the time. I like the 5 memory presets as well except when I forget to hit power up, then down and accidentally change them.

Don't mean to haul your thread OT, but every one of those pictures comes up with either a small broken link grapic or a big blank space with a "-" (minus) inside a grey circle.

When I right-click on one and select "view image", it takes me to a Google login page. I log in, and still see nothing.

Where are those images hosted?

It is not similar enough, on the Cuboid when using the preset SS316 with my SS316 build it was not doing TC correctly the coil was much hotter than the temp i set and was pulsing a lot, i had to set a custom TCR in M1 of 0092 for it to work correctly

Just got my Vapor Flask Stout, I am in vape heaven!

A friend of mine got a IPV5 in the same package but already has a black Stout. He has more experience with the 2 and so far likes the IPV5 better due to the quicker ramp up. I noticed the quicker ramp up with the Crown tank but so far the Steam Engine hits about the same. I really like them both but performance might be a little better with the IPV5 but dayum is the silver Stout oh so nice looking with the brushed finish. Build wise there both rock solid, might give a slight edge to the IPV5 and like the buttons better. If price is a factor then get the IPV5, you won't regret it.

If your using kanthal then you need to use the power mode, don't use the Joule mode as that is only for Ni, Ti and SS coils for TC. The SX Pure is for the IPV Pure X1 Atomizer which is not due out until March so don't use that with any tank.

Just an update:

I just picked up an Aspire Cleito while I was at my local vape shop. I really liked the coils as it is wide open in the middle and airy as fuck, for $25 I figured why not. I initially had it on my RX200 and it was vaping nicely at 45 watts with the pre-installed .40 ohm Kanthal Clapton coil. I went though 3 tanks until I noticed my batteries were down to about 30% and decided to charge them and switch mods. I popped it on the IPV5 at 40 watts at first and it was really nice. Then I decided to use one if my memory settings which is the next one at 45 watts and wow, it is hitting better than my RX200 at the same wattage. A friend of mine noticed the cloud looked denser than with the RX200 and I noticed the same thing. It is not hotter, just denser clouds.

For higher wattage vaping the IPV5 is a real winner. The only 2 tanks I have noticed a difference with compared to all my other mods was first the Crown at 60 to 65 watts and now the Cleito at 45 watts. The Cleito has gone from a good tank to a great tank on the IPV5, it really is a noticeable difference. For my normal vaping range with a lot of tanks around 30 ish watts I can't say I notice much of a difference but get it over 45 watts and wow, me likes.

The .25 ohm coil in power mode, 60 to 65 watts and it is a fantastic vape and for some reason cooler than when I use the same setting on my RX200.

By the way, I love the memory settings. So quick to switch between different wattage's with just simply clicking the up button to cycle through the 5 memory settings.

I think, barring any show-stoppers rearing their ugly heads between now and whenever, the IPV5 is looking like it's going to be my next mod. Its appearance is growing on me, and I'm really liking its feature set. Everybody that has one seems to be loving its performance.

I'm tending toward black, just cuz it's not quite so... there, and because most of my tanks, RTAs and RDAs are black. A green spatter black Velocity Mini would hardly go on anything other than a black mod, for example.

It is really odd that this mod is being totally ignored by known Youtube reviewers, the only mod that did not receive any decent reviews until now, either P4Y is not in the business of sending out review samples or there is something i do not understand ... i love everything about it, biggest disadvantage is looks, it looks old school compared to all other stuff released lately, which seems to adapt a modern futuristic look. does anyone know the weight of this device with batteries installed? is it convenient as a pocket mod?

The Crown worked for me in SS TC Mode, about the same performance as my RX200 with a little adjustment to temp. I prefer the Crown in just power mode with all my mods though.
