A new DIY, just ordered Nicotine, VG base, and flavors, plastic bottles, and was wondering if a sweetener was something that MUST be added?
If I did not order any swetener, what is it? Drop of sweet n low just the same? (substitute readily available)

Definitely not, quality flavorings are well sweet enough "as is." The only time I use a sweetener is if I'm shooting for an exaggerated candy taste, and even then used it lightly. Some of them can leave a bad taste lingering in your mouth, just as Amanda said.

And no, don't ever use anything bought from Walmart or a grocery store that's normally used to sweeten beverages. Ethyl maltol, sucralose, and even stevia can be acquired through your flavor vendors and would be safe for vaping without the extra chemicals the store varieties contain.

Thank you for the info.
I purchased 100mg/ml nicotine VG base, and all VG for mixing, big bag of bottles, and flavors I thought would be a good start.
All E-Flavors; Butterscotch, Green Apple,Grape, Pie Crust, and Cream, got a freebie Subtle Cinnamon.
My first attempt 80% VG, 8% Butterscotch, 2% Cream, and 10% Nicotine for 10mg/ml (10ml bottle).
First attempt liquid tried after mixing well and steeping in hot water for 15 minutes, tasted like...plain, creamy sort of..butterscotch (slightly)..lol
That particular mix has been sitting two days now..changing color a little..darker

Store your liquids in a dark place, when you don't use Amber/Blue glas bottles.

You can also use other flavors to sweeten your eJuice, e. g. Marshmallow, or Merengue.

I'm partial to the sweetener from TFA, if I'm gonna use one. EM (aka cotton candy) is okay, but tends to mute, or dull, other flavors. Other flavorings can be used to sweeten as well, such as marshmallow and pear.

Same here, dusty bottle of Sweetener, just adds a sweet diet pop after taste for me.
Sometimes use small amounts of EM/Cotton Candy tho, but rarely.
Marshmallow, Meringue, TFA Brown Sugar, etc., would be better choices IMO.
