Is it common to buy 2 or more of the same flavors

I'm just compiling a small list of concentrates to buy and I was just wondering...for instance. There are two peaches and cream flavors from two different companies. Would it be wise to buy both to find the one I like? Luckily there is only two of this kind from the site I'm buying from. But there are over 10 different strawberry flavors lol How do you guys decide or do you gradually buy them all?..Im brand new to this stuff and dont want to be buying blind or racking up the bill too crazily lol How do you go about it?

A lot of trial and error. And a lot of flavor collecting. Unfortunately, not really any other options. And the reason A whole bunch of mixers have a hundred (or hundreds of) flavorings in their stash.

You can take advice from others, but unfortunately what flavorings someone else loves, you might not like. And vice versa.

I would personally rather have a few peach flavorings and a few cream flavorings than try to get a single "peaches and cream" flavoring. Much more versitile.

Ditto I have 4 Strawberry's from 3 different companies and they all taste different.Every company's flavors have different flavor profiles and strengths. That's the reason you can't sub one brand for another in a recipe and get the same flavor.

Caps is the only v2 I have, and only because I think I have one recipe that requires it. Must not have been very good as that bottle is near full. I'm not big on v2 anything, most of them are terrible.

I just don't care about the diketones, acetoin, or any of the other "baddies." Sorry, but all of those were in cigarettes a thousand times over and no one was ever diagnosed with popcorn lung from smoking. Gimme my flavor, I'm much better off vaping than I ever was smoking.

yep Vaping is not totally risk free just FAR safer than smoking.
I likes my diketones and such.

As I posted in another thread, fear of them pulling diketone infested flavors has cause me to have 24 oz of CAP Vanilla Custard V1 in the freezer.

You may end up doing the same it you don't find a Strawberry you like right away.
INW Shisha Strawberry was the last one I bought after trying like 8 or more others.
And it's still my favorite.

As far as Peaches & Cream I like CAP best cause it's the only one I have:D.
But INW Peach, FA White Peach, & CAP Juicy Peach are all good too.

The best advice I can give is don't buy anything larger than 10ml of a flavor until you know you like it. A lot of us have (60ml of VCv2 for me...I still have 59.8ml) and we have to pif it or dump it. There should be a law against giving away any v2 flavor.

Guilty as charged.

Life is too short to vape crap.

It's all good, I was just kidding around ... I think everyone should vape whatever tastes good to them. I just thought it was kinda funny. I've only got a couple of the V2 versions and I didn't find them to be horrid but then again, I'm not a fan of CAP Vanilla Custard V1 either so there's that. :)

I have 11 strawberry flavors, with another on the way. I also have, if you can believe this, 27 different flavors that start with "Vanilla". Of those, 9 are named "Vanilla Custard", and that doesn't include the two (INW and FA) named simply "Custard". Every vanilla custard I've found, I've tried, including some obscure ones like Euro Flavor. Also doesn't include vanillas with names like French... Simply..., etc.

5 Blueberry.
4 Peach
7 different RY4
9! caramels.

However you decide to go about it, don't do what I've done. I get obsessed with finding the "perfect" caramel, for example, so have to try all I can find. I ended up with all the RY4s doing just that. Problem is I use up the one I like and end up with 8 almost full bottles of flavoring I'll never touch again. I wish I knew someone locally I could trade with.

Since I saw your ":giggle:" inclusion...I knew that. :)

I too am not a fan of either Cap Custard. (other than, of course, it's inclusion in GOC ;))

My attempt at humor would probably have been more apparent to those who frequent the Squonker thread but no guarantees there either, try as I might. :D

Ah, very good point about GOC! That's probably the only mix I really like with CAP VC at that level or higher.

I have no idea how anyone can enjoy the "v2" flavorings. Horrid.
Many people must have less discerning palates?

This.. and also -- the TFA "DX" flavors are MILES better than Cap's "v2" flavors -- MILES!!! Cap's v2 custard is just plain vomitous; TFA's Vanilla Swirl is yummy! Not terribly custardy though -- to make it more custardy, you have to mix in some TFA DX Bavarian Cream, which is also vomitous if you use over 6%, but not bad when mixed very lightly with the Vanilla Swirl.

And to the OP -- trial and error is the only way. But you need not go ahead and buy a lot at first -- just try one, if it doesn't suit, try another, till you either get tired of trying, or find one that suits. Who knows, you might get lucky and find one right off the bat that you like -- as I did, with INW shisha strawberry. I later did try some other strawberrys, but I needn't have bothered; they smelled good, but had zero taste, so I stick with shisha strawberry. I gave up on a good peach; couldn't find one that wasn't either "perfume" or "rotting peaches"... and I don't care that much about that flavor, so no great loss.

Don't know how many different vanillas I have.
But, vanilla is one of my favorite flavors so I will pretty much buy any vanilla I see from the manufacturers that I use.

"Whatever Cream" flavors as well.

Definitely. I have at least 8 strawberries, 6 caramels, 10 vanilla "something", several blueberries, 5 custards, 6-8 coffees......they're all different in obvious and subtle ways.

I cant do dx bavarian cream at 1%. Does taste of vomit.

Cap vanilla custard v2 is like vomit with high proof vodka.

Another factor on the taste thing.
I mix at a maximum flavoring of 10%.
Usually around 7.5.

Why if I try s recipe I have to adjust all the ingredients downwards.
Is there a calculator that will automagically adjust all the flavoring percentages to a maximum total flavoring percentage?

Say I find a recipe with 25% total flavoring and I want 10%?

So I'm not crazy if I buy at least 8 different various types of orange. Going to do singles for them all, but suspect a mix of several will be what I end up having to do. Also will be getting a couple of pineapples, apples, and florals. Figure I need a sweet cream and meringue as well. Sure am going to miss my left leg. :(

That's a good point. Just because it smells good doesn't mean it'll taste good. The reverse is also true.

Yes, the calculator at ELR does that with one click.

All the responses you got on this question. Are the reason I buy the sample sizes first of any new flavor I wish to try. Most vendors offer 5,8, or 10 ml sample bottles for under $2 a piece From all the different manufactures. This allows you to try out more recipes to see what you like best. Then if you find yourself using a particular one then you can order a larger amount the next time.

I don't know why, but I read corn somewhere in your list. :giggle: I think I need to get my eyes checked.

Once I figure out what flavor concentrates I want to mix with I'll be asking for that recipe!
