Is there a watt limit based on wire type?

Just wondering if there is a guide to what watt you can run each wire type. I am using 26awg nickel wire I just started building my own coils when I got a tc device and don't know if there is a Max watt I can run this and or other wire types at.

Yes and no. All metals have a melting point, and enough current will drive them past it through heating. It also varies by wire diameter; given two wires of the same material, the thinner will pop with less current. The real limit for vapers is the temp where your wick burns. This is less prevalent with rayon or silica, and next door to impossible with ceramic or stainless mesh. On a TC device, don't worry about it at all. Set the watts in the upper half of the mod's range and control the vape with the temp setting. In wattage mode, it's possible-- barely-- to fry tiny wire with tall watts, but most mods aren't that powerful. You have to ground the coil out, or short it, to fry one.

So I have been running at 30w at 450 degrees are you saying I should go to 60 and control it with the temp? If so o did this and it tasted burnt again it was the very first coil I ever made when I tried this so it could have been a wicking problem I had some cotton issues that I had to work out now I never get a burnt taste would it be better the way you are saying and I am using a kanger top tank mini rba

You are totally right I just did that with my cotton correct this time and it was the.same vape as I was getting at 30 w so yes the temp does control the mod totally cool first new thing learned for the day.

There it is. The watts in TC setting is like a speed limit, a "do not exceed" value. The mod will use whatever watts you set to get the wire to temp, then back off of it to hold temp.

I know this sounds stupid because I can totally see my mod doing exactly what your saying with my watts all the way up but I still get burnt hits when at 60w and 450 degrees but at 32w and 450 degreed it doesn't taste burnt at all and is perfect it says the same numbers as with it all the way up it says 29.3 watts and then temp protection while giving me a draw the hole time just tastes burnt at 60w and not at 32w they both say the same thing??? Is that at 32w it isn't actually getting to 450 degrees hence they aren't the same temp?? Please help!!!

I don't actually know why, but if you like the vape at 32/450, set it there and don't worry about it.

All my problems went away when I stopped using temp control. Temp control was very finicky always having to fuck with it. I also bought a new tank. I got the diablo RTA and I gave the kanger top tank to my wife. No problems with either since stopping temp control.

450° will barely singe dry cotton. If mod is working it won't exceed 450.
The watt setting is for how fast it gets to 450.
Alls well that ends well. Mabey your wife will figure it out..
