Is this set-up safe?

I'm relatively new to this. I'm still trying to wrap my head around battery research but I'm coming around.

This is my set-up:
Wulf Lone Wulf Mechanical Mod
Starre Sub-Ohm Tank by FreeMax
Allegedly Sony 18650 2500mAh 3.7V
XTAR VC2 Charger

I use the kanthal coils that came as an alternative with the Starre tank.

Are there any dangerous holes in my system?

Moving to Uncategorized, hopefully you get some more responses...my opinion:

Mod - is it a hybrid or standard top cap - is there a firing pin between the atty and the battery, or does the bottom of your tank make direct contact with the top of the battery? Hybrid mods are NOT recommended for use with clearomizers, or by anyone who hasn't been vaping for a while and done enogh extended research to know what they're messing with - fires and explosions could result otherwise.

Tank - perfectly safe, given the stipulations about the mod I just mentioned.

Batteries - if even you are saying "allegedly," and you're not sure what model you're describing (probably a VTC5, if not it's definitely bad news), I might consider getting some other cells. Perhaps someone here can post a link to one of the threads on identifying counterfeits, I don't have one handy at the moment.

Charger - great choice! Xtar is generally regarded as top-of-the-line...

Coils - kanthal are what you want to use with a mech or non-temp-limiting regulated mod, save the nickel for temp-limiting devices. You're good there.

tl;dr - Are you safe? Probably, as long as you're not running a hybrid mod. I'd be a little sketchy on those batteries, though...

I went back to the shop. They claim they are VTC3 but I am having a hard time believing it.

The pin does not touch directly to the battery on the Wulf.

A little update: I burned out both batteries. I may have let the voltage drop too low on both, would that cause this?
I took the mod apart to see if there was any dirt or residue on the pins or anything else and I didn't notice anything visible.
I am going back to the shop tonight to troubleshoot the mod.

What happened to "burn out the batteries?" Will they not take a charge? BTW, the VTC3 is a 1600mah battery, if it's authentic.

Battery safety can be a real issue, even on good batteries - especially with mechs. You need a multimeter to check your batteries while you're vaping until you learn to vape them "by feel" - here's my big thread on a lot of stuff that can help you get started, including how to use batteries safely in a mech:

Update:

There was a problem with my coils apparently. We troubleshooted every part of the Mod and there was no short in the Mod itself. Swapped mods with the same tank and the same problem occurred - overheating in the battery. Continued to narrow it down until we found that something in the coil was acting funky. Swapped coils and everything is working as it should.

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the battery issue. I don't know if the guy at the shop said VTC3 instead of VTC5 or if the batteries are just completely bunk.
