Oops! I bought another 24mm copper mod, and I need a copper RDA to keep my OCD from kicking in to high gear.

Whatcha gots and whatcha wants? I have cashy money or trade goods, so don't be shy.

Shawn,
A guy on Facebook posted this picture. It's a ruby 25 v2. The rda is 100% copper. He's used ni80 and kanthal wire with it.

Why does this happen? How can he prevent it?
Sorry to derail this thread

Just like steel will rust, copper will oxidize when exposed to air and water: steel turns a reddish/brown and copper turns green. The Statue of Liberty is copper, turned green over time due to exposure. With an RDA the green oxidation gets absorbed by the cotton along with the juice.

I've had it happen, and only use copper RDAs with stainless steel decks as a precaution - to each their own.

Just keep it clean, like anything else. I have a few copper RDA's and also a few RDA's with copper positive posts. They all vape great and the ones with the copper positive posts they are very responsive, I love them. All you have to do is when you rewick is clean them then after about a month do a deep clean like run through an Ultrasonic or clean with Vinegar or what ever.

Copper is a bit more high maintenance but IMO is so damn worth it for it's sexy as hell with outstanding performance.

Do you guys also use copper mechs? If you keep them clean can you avoid the "old penny smell"? It bothers me when I use a mech and it leaves my hands with that smell, and also makes me uncomfortable to touch cottons or anything else with copper-fingers.

I've got a number of Copper Mech's, personally I don't have any issues but then again I keep them maintained and I prefer shined not with any patina. So what that means is I clean them at least every other day when I use them.

Also I never touch the cotton until I first wash my hands, even the basic oil from your hands can foul your wick.

For a number of years I bought into the BS of copper threads would not hold up, they stunk like dirty pennies, turned your hands green and everything else that was said. I prefer patina so only occasionally polish the exterior of my copper stuff, I keep it clean but not polished. Maybe it has to do with individual body chemistry, but for me absolutely none of it is true.

Never had issue with copper threading holding up, never had smelly hands or mods, never turned my hands any colors. I have a fairly large number of mods in all metals, but prefer copper. Cheap clones or expensive authentic, no issue. I wipe them down pretty much everyday, keep them clean thats it.

Internally is a bit more work, but not that much. Atties aren't much different, I clean them about as often as any other.
