iStick 100w battery door won't close.

I just got an iStick 100w and, as the title says, I can't get the battery door closed when I have both 18650s in it.

That's the door removed.

Door on, no batteries.

First battery in, door closes fine.

Second battery in: you can see it's sitting in there crooked and it won't push down.

The door on the iStick on with both batteries in and on the magnets.

And finally the door pushed down. Like PUSHED. Not like I smashed it until I bent the metal, but it was also AFTER I played with the ribbon and shoved it in.

Before I played with the ribbon the door wouldn't even close if you pushed down. It was still open. I've tried with green AND blue Samsung 25Rs, and my set of HE4s.

Is this how they fit, or do I have a bum iStick?

I don't own the iStick. However, try inserting the batteries in the reverse (of your) order. Pull the ribbon towards you (using the view of your pictures), insert the battery into the slot towards you, making sure, it does go all the way in, fold the ribbon over the battery and towards the other side of the device, insert the second battery on top of the ribbon, fold the ribbon towards you, and close the device.

I've tried putting the batteries in both ways; ribbon out and outside battery in first, then the ribbon and inside battery.

It doesn't matter how I put them in because they still fight me either way. I can get the door closed, but I don't think it should be as difficult as it is, nor should I have to fight batteries that are trying to pop back out of the device.

Putting the batteries in the opposite way also makes them difficult to get out.
If you watch anyone who has an online video or review of the iStick 100w they put the batteries in the exact same way I do then the battery door just snaps closed right down onto the magnets. No fiddling, no forcing, no drama. It just works.

Vista Vapors video showing the batteries going in. This is the vendor I got it from and I'll be contacting them today to see what's up.

Make sure the spring loaded contact in that bay (both actually) is not stuck.

I didn't look at the video. If there's a good view of the sled, can you see anything different on yours, something that may be blocking the battery from lying flat?

Looking at mine... there is nothing that could keep that pos end from settling in the track the way it's supposed to.
The contacts seem to be fine. I'm putting my batteries in exactly the way he is in the video, but mine are a LOT tighter. Also after he puts the outer battery in (very smoothly I might add) he just slips the door on and it clicks very easily into place.

I spoke with a customer service rep on the phone. He grabbed an iStick and put batteries in and out and told me that the device he had in front of him had zero difficulty in inserting the batteries or closing the door. I even heard it click over the phone.

I'm sending it back and hopefully I get one that doesn't have the same problems as this one has. I mean I hope it isn't operator error, but I have a feeling it isn't. I shouldn't have to spin around, click my heels twice, and wave a magic wand over the thing to be able to pop a couple batteries in and get the door shut.

When I pushed the batteries equally on either end they would immediately pop right back up; like there was another spring in between the batteries that was trying to shove them back out of the mod.

I think there was something wonky with how the battery enclosure was in the case. Like the guts were in there cocked and that problem was compounded by the ribbon being bunched up where it goes into the bottom of the enclosure.

I've heard that the batteries fit tightly in the iStick 100w, but not so much so that you can't get the batteries in or the door shut.

It's in the mail (again) going back to Vista. Hopefully this results in at least me getting a mod that works the way it should. I just paid an additional $4 and change MORE than anyone else that bought an iStick from Vista to send it back so it'd be nice to get that money back in some way.

Put just one in that outside bay and see if it sits lower than that rounded molding inside the bay. I'm not trying to be condescending here... you're not installing the battery correctly. I'm hoping it's just that simple a cock-up and not a big deal.

Also, it closes when you only have one battery inside whether it's the inside or outside slot, but as soon as you put the second battery in it won't.

If I start with the outside battery it's a PAIN to get the inside battery in, and worse to get it out.

It has to be the mod.

Too bizarre, sorry you had to ship it off.
Me too. I had two (careful) vapes on it pushing my Subtank to its limit (60w) and it was amazing. I mean the flavor wasn't great (a bit burn-y), but the vapor production was astronomical! And all that at about a 3 second puff!

I'm going to need to get a proper tank that can take the higher wattages pushed by the iStick. Maybe a Crown?

Well, I just received word that I'm officially an idiot.

I was called personally by the customer service manager over at Vista, who told me that there was nothing wrong with my iStick. He said that he rounded up 30 people from Vista and had them put the batteries in and close the door. He did also say that out of the 30 people 10 of them couldn't get the door to close, so that makes me feel like slightly less of an idiot.

He also told me that he'd make a video for me to show me how to put the batteries in, which I will definitely be posting here. I guarantee I'm not the only one that's had issues with it and I wouldn't want somebody else to have to go through what I had to go through.

Did you try to put the end of the battery that was sticking up in first?

I know it's not necessary, BUT the door SHOULD close and the batteries SHOULD fit in the mod out of the box without having to modify or remove anything.

I cut the ribbon out of both my IPV4's the first day I had them...made sliding on the batt shell easier and smoother...just a personal preference I reckon.....had them now about 5 mos...wish you good luck with your door...

I saw a video review on the iStick 100 and out of 15 minute review the guy spent about 3 minutes trying to get the batteries in. I've got some efest 2800mah and they pop right in and the door closes flush, something the guy in the video I mentioned was never able to do before giving up and moving on.

Do you remember which video it was or where you saw it?

I saw it on YouTube but don't remember who it was. I'll check the history on my tablet browser when I get a chance because there was also a Reddit post that mentioned the same scenario but follow up replies stated they had no problems. I'll check my browser history for that stuff when I get a chance.

Well, I got my iStick back last night.......

I was expecting, from my phone call from Vista's customer service manager, that this would be one of those amazing customer service moments that leaves you talking about the company and how well they treated you.......

It wasn't. I was set up with promises of a video (because apparently I'm still too much of a dumbass to put batteries in the thing), a couple batteries, and a guarantee that there is nothing wrong with my iStick.

What I got back was a scuffed up and greasy iStick (from dozens of people manhandling it), no video to help me not be so much of a moron about putting the batteries in, no batteries IN the device (as per CS manager), and I still haven't figured out how to put the GODDAMNED BATTERIES IN!!!!!

They really had a chance to make this right, but didn't follow through at all. This is extremely frustrating.

Guess I'll just vape off the thing while doing the hulk grip on the battery door to hold it closed. Maybe eventually the defective mod will end up scraping MORE of the sleeve off the batteries and I'll just end up with a tank shot through my brain or maybe just blind with 3rd degree burns on my face and chest.
Can't say I didn't let them know, though.

I'm going to upload some pics and maybe even a video of the mod and my installing the batteries/door closure.

I was also considering emailing eLeaf to see what can be done since Vista has kind of left me hanging.

I'll have more pics and a video to come.
