While it seems the upcoming (and mysterious) 10 Cloverfield Lane isn't technically the Cloverfield 2 we've been waiting for, producer J.J. Abrams says he has an idea for a third Cloverfield movie.
In an interview with EW, Abrams says that while the first two movies are not directly connected, they are "blood relatives" and that there is a "larger conceit at play." Whether that means an anthology set-up or a connected, underlying storyline is still anyone's guess. “This movie is very purposefully not called Cloverfield 2, because it’s not Cloverfield 2,” Abrams also told Fandango, adding that “the association is clear and there are multiple connections – and there is a bigger idea at play for us with these movies and this connection. “
