Jordan Peele has unveiled a mysterious first poster for his next movie, a "new terror" called Nope.

The filmmaker shared the first piece of foreboding artwork for Nope on Twitter with a single cloud emoji. The poster doesn't give much away about the movie. It simply features a dark storm cloud with a string of colorful flags trailing down from it, ominously hanging above a rural piece of land with some distant lights as the only indicator of potential civilisation.

The image offers very little information about Peele's next horror-thriller beyond it starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, who was said to be in negotiations to join the cast back in April. It also reveals that the movie will be hitting theaters on July 22, 2022, with select sequences filmed using IMAX cameras for the big screen experience.

Along with writing and directing, Peele will produce the project alongside Ian Cooper of Monkeypaw Productions. Universal Pictures is distributing Nope, marking Peele's third collaboration with the studio. His directorial debut, Get Out, was a smash success at the box office and earned four Oscar nominations, out of which it won Best Original Screenplay.

His horror follow-up, Us, was another commercial success, earning $255.1 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. The movie's $70 million opening made it the third-best horror opening of all time, and the best opening for an original horror film. The only horror films with bigger openings at the time were It ($123.4 million) and 2018's Halloween ($76.2 million).
