Someone told me a calculator I could use to open my grinderx files. I cannot remember. E Juice Me Up does not work. How can I open them?

I have reinstalled twice.

2.1.2 is glitchy. It will not convert my 1.66 files to the new version, grinderx to grinder. The ones it did convert it will not open. There is definitely a bug in the program. It also freezes.

It used to work really well before I updated.

Still looking for a program I can use with grinderx files.

Surely it has a format that can be used in other programs, even if its a jumbled mess.

Joeyboy,
I wish you had told me of the issue by emailing me. I came across this thread by accident.
As for your issue with the Batch Conversion, yes, I saw the problem you had and I just fixed it today. Alas, I'm probably too late, but remember my door (email) is always open.

Other program authors need to make THEIR programs work with my format - it's very simple XML, just like I had to make mine work with eJuiceMeUp's format. Sorry but that is the way things work with programming, they don't "just work together".

My format cannot be back converted without losing data (My program has more fields and data than eJuiceMeUp, therefore it won't be able to use them). In the future, if you MUST use eJuiceMeUp, you can open the .grindx file in the program, and then click Save As, then in the file type box, select eJuiceMeUp format. You won't get more than 10 flavors, and you will loose formatted Notes and Receipe name, as again, eJuiceMeUp doesn't support these.

But there is no Batch conversion BACK to eJuiceMeUp.

I had to download another update to get mine working right again. I guess I need to start printing.

I either print mine for my notebooks or type them up in Microsoft Office and save to Dropbox. (Or both) Seems safer that way. ;)

Same. Most of my goofing around is on e-liquid-recipes.com, good ones get copied in ejuicemeup and stored to dropbox, a Google docs spreadsheet and finally printed *just in case*.

I cannot imagine how Shark Vape must be feeling right now with 60 recipes in limbo :(

You can load a new version and the recipes will open. They should still be there, at least mine did.

He didn't lose anything, nor will anyone. The program does NOT delete anything unless you check a box telling it to do it, mmmk?

Now, let's all settle down a bit. I understand like any data it is very important to everyone - my day job was owning a Computer company (before I started taking care of my Father with Alzheimer's full time)...so I saw data loss on a day to day basis and still do with people I do work for occasionally.

If I did not care about your files and MY program working right, I wouldn't be here - so please, take that into consideration before yelling at me...I am not one of those heartless, dont-give-a-shit software company that you all have to deal with.

Now with that said, I cannot fix problems unless I am told about them. As I said in the original reply, I came across this thread by accident. You need to Email me problems and TELL ME, not complain on a public forum immediately. No company or programmer can test every possibility of everything - it is absolutely impossible. I always want things to work right, and they SHOULD. Programming is extremely complex work, and problems crop up in unusual ways and I will admit, things I do miss and sometimes even do wrong that manifest themselves later, like any programmer - and that is why I want to fix them.

If your other recipes did not convert correctly, I need to know why so I can fix it. Please email me the UNCONVERTED files that did NOT convert to me at [email protected] in a Zip file, I will look at them and find where the problem lies, and I will fix it, and I will even send you back to converted files.

FYI - I tested 2.3 with two 1.6.6 files I created, and they both converted fine,

Also something that may help - if you made the files in 1.0, you need to use that Batch Conversion and not the 1.1-1.6.6. But I will be happy to look and see what's going on regardless.

Hey, @chrisf8657. I didn't mean for that message to Sharkey to be misconstrued as saying he lost data. I understand that he recovered and that's a goodness. Still losing that many recipes would, indeed, be a heartbreaker and I was delighted to hear he did not.

I'm not a Grinder user myself, and, as I'm sure you can understand, just becoming aware of the program due to this thread, I'm taking a wait and see approach although it does look quite promising.

Your presence on the forum is most welcome, as it is by any vendor or peripheral supplier. Contributing within the community puts you in the best possible light. Thank you for being here.

Sailcat,
I appreciate the reply! :)

It has always been my personal beliefs that were instilled into me by my parents you do what is right. I will fix any issues anyone brings to my attention, and just before typing this, I used recipes I saved from 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6.6 and they all converted OK. If it only converted 10 for the other user, something else is going on, possibly they are older 1.0 files or my code. I want him to contact me so I can help him - I don't want anyone to have to that many recipes by hand - ever. I sure as hell wouldn't. I will be doing some additional work to prevent the repetitiveness of the addition of "- Converted, grindx" to files for the next version.

I also forgot to mention, the reason the update feature in 1.6.6 and prior does not work anymore is because I changed websites from a personal folder on my business website to Juice Grinder's own website when it started having 1K+ users. When that happened, the update feature broke, and on purpose too - 1.x is also kinda old, and people did get an update reminder for some time (unless they disabled it) to upgrade.

But regardless, if you have a problem, I can't always check forum threads due to time constraints. If you have an issue, a suggestion, etc. you can email me, or even use the new feature in 2.3 under the "Help" menu titled "Send Feedback" if you need to contact me about something - my door is always open to anything! I've actually had several users from VU that have sent VERY good suggestions I have implemented, and I have credited them in the "About" dialog. If any of you think of something, and I find it useful, I'll be happy to add your name too ;-)

Sharky,

That means alot to me. ECF seems more oriented to Rod's calculator and eJMU, plus, I don't want to "over-advertise" my software. That stuff gets you banned, like your an advertiser or something. I prefer to work on "word of mouth" via others, and like here, Forums. Yes, certain features are donate only (Inventory and Commercial Add-in). You get a nudge here and there to donate every once in awhile, but that's it, just wait a few secs and click no if you don't feel I deserve it, or you don't have the extra cash available.

Anyways -

There is an export to CSV and PDF function -

CSV is just like a text file, you just need an advanced text editor instead of Notepad or Wordpad in Windows (ex. Notepad++ or Ultraedit), and you can replace all of the commas in the CSV with spaces...

The CSV one is the safest, because it makes sure with the values they are evenly separated, and you can open it in Excel or OpenOffice. With a text file, without very complex programming, the fields don't line up properly - i.e. when it gets saved, one columns data might be too long and overshoot the legend row and columns - for some people, it's no big deal, but for others, it could confuse the hell out of them. Kinda hard to explain without me showing people them side by side.

But, I also see there may be a want for the option, so, I'll try and add it in the next version barring any priority issues, or at the very latest, the next version after the next one (LOL, tongue twister!). :)
