Probably too many lol. Mostly dessert/bakery flavors with a few fruit and nut flavors for accents. Gonna try to make a key lime cookie flavor first. But also just looking forward to experimenting.

I'll repeat the boast once again that we've got some of the best DIY forums on the net!

+1 to @fratervapor on the notes - and it helps to try flavors standalone in small doses, especially to understand what's going wrong if all doesn't go right with your first shot...

Yeah lots of good stuff here. The notes won't be a problem, I'm a "stats" guy so it'll come naturally to me. :)

Yeah, I've done 41 test batches so far and I think less than a half dozen of them have more than one ingredient. Basically tasting my ingredients at this juncture to train my palate and understand the materials. I've standardized on 5ml for tests; it gives me enough to taste immediately and over time.

So when you test one flavor, is there a standard % you use for it when mixing? Assuming you mix by weight.

I usually start with the recommended % for that flavor -- it takes a while to track down a consensus opinion sometimes. In the absence of reasonable consensus I start mentally averaging people's advice. Failing that I try something like 5% or 7.5% and go from there. I was not a cigarette smoker so my taste buds are intact. And I also tened to prefer subtler flavors rather than BLAMMO! so I probably wade in the shallower end of the pool. :)

75% of my flavors are TFA right now and those seem to be especially well documented.

[Edited to add: yes, by weight most of the time]

Sweet, thanks for the link. I didn't realize there were recommended %'s, haha.

I always laugh at some of these "recommended" charts, Blackberry 6%, ya right:rolleyes:.
Maybe if you're using a Vivi Nova;).

Better off asking the folks around here...

Yeah, the more I read about them, the more it sounds like the range can vary greatly on most flavors depending on the setup you use and your own personal taste.

This is definitely true, but bear in mind that FA flavors are some of the most concentrated and can go "funny" if you if over-flavor. I suppose any flavor can, but it's much easier to do with the stronger ones. I'm sure you've heard it already, but start low and work from there! It's much easier to add a few drops than to try to dilute and then re-create a mix. Welcome to DIY! It's so fun and satisfying :)

I started DIY a few months ago, and was apprehensive. Bought the scale, pg, vg, nic, syringes. Loaded "E-Juice Lab" app on my tablet, found a few recipes I thought I would like, ordered the flavors for them, tweaked the recipes to my liking, and haven't looked back. Started thinking about all the money I spent over the last few years on pre-made juices, then decided I had better stop thinking about that or it would make me ill.

Got my stuff yesterday (most of it) and whipped up a couple small bottles of some recipes I pretty much just winged. I wouldn't say I have a refined palette, but they turned out pretty decent! I'll makes some tweaks, but man, gonna be a lot of fun. So glad I found the inspiration here to give this DIY stuff a shot!

Congrats on joining the DIY club. It gets pretty addicting buying new flavors and trying recipies. Before you blink you will find yourself three orders in and still having fun. Soon you will have juice storage space for lots of juices you totally love and never thought to try before...then you'll start giving away juice just to make more.

Me next! I'm a picky vaper and making my own e-juice doesn't seem too ridiculously hard, just a delicate flavor balance. Good to hear it's working out for ya dude. That's rad.

I have a hard time buying juices anymore. There are some great ones, but I can easily kill 30ml in a couple days...$$
