Just a quick question about FA and drops %

I got some FA (finally) and wanted a quick doublecheck before I use it. I'm wanting a 3.5%, so I've figured 1 drop for every 29 of my nic/pg/vg solution- does that sound about right? Atm I can't get any more accurate on my measurements without buying some nicer syringes.
I'm working with cookie and classic vanilla

mathematically that is correct. Without measuring though the only thing I would say is that if your VG/PG nozzle or tip is bigger than the little ones on the flavor bottles your drops for the VG/PG will perhaps be quite a bit bigger meaning you'll be getting quite a bit more.

As long as you can replicate exactly what you're doing you're ok. (which will be a bit harder with drops) What I mean to say by duplicate is; if you like the mix go from there and replicate exactly what you did. Just take notes. If you need to add more then add a drop or two more, test, repeat. Good luck.

I used syringes for quite awhile and then got a scale and never looked back. Love measuring by weight, way less messy and less clean up. But like all of us, start with what you can and work your way up with more and more things as time progresses.

Hot Damn, you stirred up my brain cells thank you! I just now remembered that I DO have a digital scale- I guess as you get older memory is one of the first things to go eh? Thanks so much for your reply, I bet I would have never remembered I had that if you hadn't mentioned a scale

it does say that it measures in grams, that is good. Does it measure to the hundreth? eg, 0.00? If so I'd give it a shot. As long as you can zero it out between flavors/vg/pg/nic I don't see why not. Definitely worth a try.

It's going to be pretty trick as it doesn't measure to .01. I bought one from Amazon for $15 that measure to .01 an quite a few of us on VU use with success: (if the link doesn't work it's the Horizon Ds-19:

it measures in "grains" and that's a pretty damn accurate measurement. It could be that the one I bought is better than the one in the link- I just glanced at it and it looks like my Frankford.

Long time mixer first time poster A grain is about .06 grams. Not a very handy unit of measurement. The scale you listed states it is only accurate to 0.1 grams in gram mode. You really want one that goes to 0.01 grams as in the one listed above.

Drops are really the least accurate method of measure. As long as you can repeat it accurately it will work but you start running in to problems if you are trying to follow some ones recipe or if you want to share yours with others.
