Just got my first 26650 mech / also first stacked tube. Help me not die!

Title says it all! I just made a big ol’ gear trade and among other things, I recieved the Vapor Giant XL v.5 mod & tank. It’s a freaking monster and a little intimidating, so I’m looking for some pointers on how to build this beast? Single mode and stacked if possible , Thanks!!!

Edit: forgot to mention, as of now, the only 26650’s I have are a new pair of Vapcell G53’s I just picked up. Hopefully they are decent?

Ohm's law is your friend. E(volts)/I(amps)=R(resistance)

The Vapecel's you got are rated at 20 amps. Using in stacked mode (series) the output voltage would 8.4V so the minimum resistance coils you should use are 0.42 ohms. I would advise higher to be safe.

Single mode the voltage would be 4.2V and the current remains 20 amps. So 4.2/20=0.21, 0.21 ohms coils are the minimum you should use. Again, higher to be safer.

https://www.steam-engine.org/ is a good site for figuring out coils.

Much appreciated Sir!! I’m pleased to report that I took your advice and built the VG tank out to almost dead on .5 ohm, and it’s been lovely in all its giant stacked glory! Out of curiosity, if I were to order another set of 26650’s , what would you recommend? Cheers

26650s are not a common size and I don't have any 26650 devices. Vapecel batteries work well for me. I would snag some now while you still can.

Vapcell G53s are solid cells for that mod, good choice. For a single coil build on the XL keep it simple to start, a 3mm ID fused clapton around 0.25-0.35 ohm will give you a good experience without pushing the batteries too hard. For stacked just make sure your total resistance stays above 0.15 and you're not exceeding the amp limit on those cells which is around 30A continuous. Start at lower wattage and work your way up to find your sweet spot, the Giant tends to run a bit warm so don't go chasing massive clouds right away until you get a feel for it.
