Kanger kbox mini temp settings?

I am uncertain what material the coil is made of inside the square OCC 0.5ohm coil, but VW has Not been working out for me. So tonight I was playing with the different modes. If I choose SS it works but then quickly switches back to VW mode. The only one I see working well is NC the last temp setting in the menu before it goes back to VW. Now while vaping on NC at 115°c it burns hot which is good for me, (krackles) then slowly ramps down to a cool down which is really really nice! And wattage shows 35w when first firing which is about what I use.

Am I safe using NC with this coil?
It seems to work really well with this setting.
Vg/pg ratio is 80/20


Also due note.
If I fire and don't puff on the tank it quickly drops to almost zero watts like it knows I'm not vaping......? Weird.

The SSOCC coils from Kanger in 0.5Ω for TC are either SS316L or NiChrome. Since the only SS316L versions I've been able to get my hands on come with the Topbox Mini Kit, it's probably a fairly safe assumption that you have the NiChrome coils. However, the also make a 0.5Ω Kanthal/Clapton coil which should NOT be used in TC mode. Luckily, this is easy to sort out, just read the writing on the coil. It will say Ni, NC, or Clapton.

I'm pretty sure the older OCC coils are strictly not TC coils (i.e. Kanthal) since they predate TC devices. I wouldn't be using them in TC modes.

Hmm, the vape is much more consistent then in VW mode on the box. So, I guess I need to switch back to top tank, and use occ coil? I just get a much nicer hit with the subtank coils over the toptank coils.

I just switched to a toptank with a same ohm point 5, and the coil says SS.
Stick the KBox mini in SS to mode and it sucks.....

NC coils impart a bit of a metallic taste for me, so I tend to avoid them. The Ni coils produce more vapor than the SS, but the flavor is muted and not as "clean".

Uh... yeah, you're getting cut off before you even get vapor. I'd start around 180-200ºC and see where that gets you.

Most people run SS 420F-450F. The thing about SS is it's an alloy and there are a few different ones available (SS316, 317, 304, and 430). They all have different TCR's. Without knowing which grade the coil is combined with knowing which TCR the mod is using, it's a crap shoot. Just adjust the Temperature until it tastes good to you. That's the best advice I can give you.

The Kanger SSOCC SS coils are SS316.

200ºC = 392ºF.

So if Fahrenheit, I'd start at 400ºF and work up.

FWIW, I vape Ni at 240ºC, about 460ºF, and SS at 225ºC, or around 440ºF.

Alright this is dumb.
Read online the ssocc coils that say SS on side does NOT mean there SS. It's the metal part that is stainless. The Oring is red and not pink so that throws everything off. I hate vaping wattage mode. And want to run in temp mode but I need to be safe.

Once my avocado 24 arrives I'm selling these kanger crap because I don't have time to mess around with wishy washy values, guesses on wire. Going rdta rout and never coming back. But for now this is what I have to vape on.

I have not been able to find any vendors that have the SS coils, just got the ones that came with the Toptank Mini Kits. SSOCC refers to the shell and the wick and has nothing to do with the wire. Since the SS316L coils do not appear to have a steady presence in the market, or maybe purchasers aren't informed enough to buy them, many places have taken to not list the wire material at all. That's not Kanger's fault, and it's kind of annoying when the guy I buy from doesn't know or understand the product he's selling.

The coils you have do not appear to be the SS316L coils, but rather the NC (NiChrome) coils. And they pretty much suck. I get a gross metallic "shine" on every juice I've tried them with. A few coils down and I'm not comfortable using a wire that is throwing off enough particulates for me to be able to taste them. So, I'm using the Ni coils for TC now.

You do not show a picture of the telling side. It will either be stamped SS or NC. My guess is yours have the NC.

Not on the box, on the coil, can you get a shot of the wire-label side? The SS are either pink or blue ringed, the NC are red ringed.

The actual outside shell days SS. On the opposite side it says kanger and the ohms etc.
The bottom Oring is red and so is the one that seals

<edit> Nevermind, I'm pretty sure you're mistaken, I blew up the image and I think I can see the C in NC very faintly right by the dent in the plastic.
