Got my Kato Square clone from Vaportek. Not bad at all for the price, but there are a few issues. On the plus side, the engraving on the front and back is better than I expected. Very deep and well done. The same for the engraving on the fire button.

Most of the body is nicely done – highly polished finish that looks great polished, but this is not the mod to get if you’re bothered by fingerprints unless you want to polish it constantly. Huge fingerprint magnet. The only part of the body with poor machining was the inner portion of the well, which is not polished and has a lot of machining marks. But, that’s covered when there’s an atty or tank installed, so it’s not a problem.

The button action is very smooth with a light, short throw. At least it is now – out of the box it was so crunchy that it wouldn't even fire. Took the switch apart (very easy) and it was filthy. Once cleaned, it works well. Simple switch with a brass screw and a copper spring.

The threading for the switch to get at the battery compartment is so-so. Not great, but not horrible either. Using it with a Sony VTC4 with zero battery rattle.

It fits a Kayfun perfectly (tried it with an EhPro clone of the Kayfun). It also fits an AC9, which is what I’ll be using on it the most. A Tayfun is too big to fit. Photo is with an AC9. kato_ac.jpg

Just for fun, tried it with a Patriot. Fits, but you’d have to use such a long drip tip that using it would be impractical. It works much better with a Cigreen Explorer RDA. The extra height of the Explorer makes for a great fit, and a very compact dripping setup. Photo is with the Explorer and a short drip tip. kato_explore.jpg

It’s heavy – 8.5 ounces with a battery installed and no atty. Comfort in hand is mixed – the edges on the bottom are sharp enough to make it feel uncomfortable unless you grip it just so. Not cut your skin sharp, but annoyingly sharp.

Comes with a small zippered case (it’s what’s propping up the mod in the photos) plus an extra copper spring and an Allan wrench for removing the bottom and top portions. Haven’t done that yet – want to watch Todd’s video on disassembly again before I tackle that.

Certainly not my favorite mod, but a nice addition to the collection.

Sweet:) soo beautiful..
This is a 18650 mod, isn't it?
A mate of mine made a order for one and asked if I want one too, but I only want a 18500 if there was made one and then he told me that there also is a 18500 size but the dealer just not have them right now , is it true that there is coming one in that size?

It is an 18650. I've also heard that there will be an 18500 version, but don't know of anyone who is selling it as of yet.

So it was right what he told, that's awesome. I'm only using 18350/18500 batteries so a Kato 18500 will be spot on for me.. Please let me know if you hear everything about it..

8.5oz with battery is certainly less than the 320 grams or 10.2oz their specs show. Maybe that's box and all. I love the form factor and have been eying this thing but having a spring in the circuit on a mechanical gives me pause. Is this a reverse polarity mod or can you insert a flat top positive to the spring?

Different strokes for different folks. Not the greatest copy but I still like it.

I love the look and tearing down to clean or repair is easy as it gets. I have one coming but I trouble shooted one for a friend and drained a kayfun full of juice with it. Vapes great and unique. Heavy duty and pocket friendly for work.

Been using this for nearly a week now, and I have to say it’s really growing on me. While I bought it mainly to use with an AC9, I’ve been using it mostly with an AGA T5 and T7 – very compact setup, and the band offers protection for the Aga glass tank. Still wish the bottom edge was beveled more to make it more comfortable, but as-is I’m finding it to be well worth the price paid. Zero problems with operation, and the switch action (once cleaned) has been smooth and a delight to use.

It's pretty cool IMO. I like the recessed tank, VTR style, but you don't need to abuse it with a dremel to fit most tanks. That ruined the vtr. It's a nice form factor for a box mod to have the tank recessed like that.

Been using mine since last night with Kayfun. Nice short throw. I need to get some longer tips though. Much more compact then VTR and looks like an easy repair should something go bad.

I have considered this mod since the original came out. I love my VTR, except the fact that my tanks won't fit. I prefer regulated (I guess I could use this with 18350 + Kick). I really like the form factor of the KATO & VTR. I think it's one of those styles that you either love it or hate it.

edit: Was going to mention that FT had it for $47.49 but I see that it is a different clone manufacturer. Better or worse unknown.

The Kato at FT is not from the same manufacturer as he one from FC which is from Limwell. The FT version also has more shallow engravings.

Had it in the basket but pulled it awaiting reviews. I think I'll let things sort themselves out on this one and see who all puts out a clone of this.
