Square Enix and Disney had plans for a Kingdom Hearts television adaptation, but the project was ultimately canceled.
As revealed by Did You Know Gaming (via Game Informer), an animated adaptation was put into production following the success of the first Kingdom Hearts, which released on PlayStation 2 back in 2002. Story board artist Seth Kearsley of Disney's television animation division was hired to write and direct a pilot for the potential series.
