I have no issues with your reasons. I actually think it is pretty cool VU took top awards in such an infancy as a forum.
But for some here, it's about poking back at the other place. Not really about celebrating your true win as much as it is sticking their tongue out at the other place.
Am I upset? No. Classwife locking threads is as reliable as the time of day. I can't speak for others, obviously, but here is my issue with ECF:
When you do a Google search for vaping information, ECF is one of the top results. ECF is going to be among the first stops for newbies, which puts them in a very powerful and important position in the vaping industry and community.
Their antics are destructive to everyone. It's a turn-off to newbies who are looking for a source of credible information, they abuse members, and shake down vendors. The amount of overzealous moderators there is actually laughable. You can't even type "Vaping Underground" or "Vapor Joes" because they're censored.
It should speak volumes that this site, young as it is, with 1/16th the membership numbers, defeated ECF in a reader voted poll. It should also speak volumes that Vapor Joe walked away with 14 awards last night. So no, I don't think there's anything wrong with the folks here having a bit of a chip on their shoulder with regards to ECF. I don't think there's anything wrong with kicking some dirt in their eye.
Through banning, ECF has basically told a lot of VU-minded people to STFU, no one wants to hear what you have to say. The VU has made it very clear that we're not going to shut up.

One of the many and biggest differences between VU and ECF is that if one of the posters is a condescending asshole, the moderators dont necessarily have to intervene at all....membership will deal with em quickly and appropriately....

If you know anything about SEO, then you know that site age is a major factor. Vaping Underground is ranking right up there with ECF, and this forum is less than a year old, competing with a forum that is now 8 years old. I'm pretty sure these guys know what they're doing.

I DO in fact, know about SEO. I know because I have and do build websites, and get mine ranked in under a year. I know I have dominated my market, when other guys have been in the game longer than me.
Age is a issue you can get passed, no problem. relative content and backlinks are the key. But, it's not my forum and I am making nothing off it, so it's not on me to worry about it.
I'm sure Joe and his team have it under control.
