little advice for first time diy?

Got my first couple diy's done today. i went through bull city vapor for everything. i made 5ml bottles in 60vg/40pg @ 6mg nic. i made tfa strawberry, fw watermelon, fw chocolate, inw vanilla, and fw cookies and cream. I must say every juice is horrible. now i know i just made them but you know how tempting it is to try them as soon as you make them. i would have expected the fruit flavors to be a little better to be honest. they all had a similar weird flavor to them, even the ones that wernt flavour west. so for the fun of it i made up another little bottle of watermelon with no nicotine. Way better. that weird taste kinda went away. So does the bull city nic get better after steeping? or do i need to find a better nic? Any help or pointers would be appreciated

steeping helps, different ratios help.... there's sooooo many variables that it's hard to start making recommendations. Some concentrates are better weaker than stronger, some such as blueberry tend to need a LOT of flvaoring to be good. Other, such as cherry, have a tiny little window in which they're good..... too little is blah, and too much is cough syrup! If you're starting DIY, I recommend starting by following recipes and getting familiar with flavorings and what concentration they mix best at.... then, from there, strike out and do a little bit of experimenting. As for Bull City's nic? Well I don't know where they get their bases, but you might want to try others to see if you like them better.

I don't know about that particular brand of nic but some juices you can take the top off and set them out of the way for 24 hours and that can get rid of some of the funky taste.

thanks for the insight tyger tyger. i figured i would play around with just some single flavors. kind of get a feel for how it works. im going to let these steep for a little while and ill look up some recipes. with so many people that diy, im sure a few people have some experience with this place.

What was your percent used for each flavor?

I'd suggest looking at suggested percentages in the diy area
or use google for each flavor you have..

This is a TFA chart for suggestions at single flavor starting percentages. For your Inawera, go to the Inawera thread in the DIY forum. I've not really worked with FW to be able to help you, nor with Bull City Nic. I use WL for the time. I have too much on hand to order from elsewhere and fall in love, atm. I hear great things about Vaperstek nic.

LOL, "Keep Calm and Steep". I see the shirts already. It's really hard to do when you get started ceejkay. But... worth it. I wouldn't think single flavors would take too long. Have you tried out any of the recipes in the DIY? There's some really yummy stuff there.

sometimes you need to start low.. like around 2%
20% is a bit too much..

find your happy spot with your flavors.. even if it takes a bit longer.
the results can be worth it.

agreed.... the only flavor I know of that you want to start with 20% is blueberry.... almost everything else fruity will go perfumey after that (tastes like perfume, or soap, or hand lotion)..... and there's probably some play there too...... others can be as low as 3% (no joke)...... the person who advised you to look for suggested DIY percentages is dead right. I can say that using mostly FA at such low percentages has made me rethink percentages for other flavorings. I stay pretty low on most anything I use now.

FW Blueberry I had to go 15% to get any flavor, but was still kinda bitter compared to others.
TFA Blueberry Wild I use at 10-12%.

I personally just find it easier to work with PG. Easier to draw, but you can warm VG a bit in a cup of hot water, too. I use more PG than VG in my mixes.

i got my nic in pg the last time. just thought i would ask. after doing some looking around i found a few people find the nic from bull city to be a bit peppery. thats exactly what im finding.

Vaperstek gets amazing reviews on their nic. I think it's vaperstek.org I'll try it out eventually. Too much WL on hand, still.
