Looking for Some Magnets

Hey, everyone!

I just picked up my first mechanical mod from one of my local shops during a sale; an Akuma clone!

Unfortunately, right out of the box the spring for the switch was shorted out; not a big deal. I'm positive my local Ace Hardware will have adequate replacements.

However, in the process of getting to the bottom of why the mod wasn't firing right (which I found out is because of the spring), I was told about the potential to replace the spring with magnets!

So, now my question is if anyone knows what specific type of magnet I need. A quick Google search turned up that most (if not all) magnetic mod switches use neodymium magnets (no surprise there). However, I have no idea of the specific magnets I'd need (dimensions, model number, etc).

Any information would be great. :)

Did the Akuma magnets j3rian linked to not work?
Unfortunately, no. I just received what I ordered from them, and they don't work.

The ones I ordered are the very first ones on the list in the drop-down box; Akuma 9.5x6.35x2. The inner diameter of the magnets is the same as the outer diameter of the post on the switch, so they don't fit around it. I didn't order the other size because they're marked as being used for the Akuma 26650, and my Akuma is the 18650 model.

I actually spoke with them via email, and apparently I'd need to buy the Nemesis magnets and, like, super glue them to the bottom of my switch or something? I've never heard of anything like that before, and it seems highly unusual to me, personally.

I wish I knew the measurements of the post on my switch. I can't measure things like that worth a damn or I'd do it myself.

Oh, and I wish you could buy neodymium magnets in your local hardware store or something. Then I could just go experiment with the magnets until I found some that fit.

I just measured myself, and I think it's accurate. To be sure, I might have someone at a hardware store take measurements as well.

If I'm right, here's the size I need.

Minimum Inner Diameter: 3/8
Maximum Outer Diamater: 5/8

For outer diameter, I measured from the inside edges of this outer circle.

For inner diameter, I measured from the outside edges of this inner circle.

Being originally from Germany, I prefer metric measurements. It's more accurate as well. In addition, all my R/C Collective Pitch Helicopter stuff is utilizing metric screws, nuts and bolts as well.

I've browsed through a few different sites now, and so far, I think these are the only ones that would work.

http://www.supermagnetman.net/produ...d=963&osCsid=104b21939b73879ed68a2ac88976b49b

There would be wiggle room between the inside edge of the hole in the magnet, and the outside edge of the inner part of the button / post on the switch, but that shouldn't be a problem. At least I don't think it would. Does anyone else know if that would be an issue?

I doubt that should be a problem, 'cause the opposing magnets shouldn't slide off to the side completely. However, the less wiggle room, the better.
Just don't drop the mod, or the magnets break.

Well, those are the smallest that I can find, that are also big enough to work. I've checked numerous websites as well.

However, a customer service rep from Max Vaping asked me to send him pictures of my switch so that he can try and find a set of magnets that will work for my mod. If he can find them, he'll send them to me free of charge, since the ones I bought don't work. So, I'll wait to see what he can do first.

If he's unable to find any that would work, I'll scoop up some of the ones I found on Super Magnet Man.
