Looking for squonker suggestions

So, I've been using a Vandyvape Pulse with an Athena RDA for about four months now, and I like it a lot. However, some of the box mods I've been seeing lately look really awesome. Ideally, I'd like to get a dual parallel squonker. I'll probably be looking to spend about $150-$200 if anything exists in that price range. I strongly prefer metal or wood if possible.

Any RDA suggestions would be nice too if there's anything better than my Athena for a decent price.

Looking at getting a Driptech DS myself, it's a two battery parallel, aluminum mod. They also make a driptech TS which is a three battery and there is a good deal on one in the exchange now.

I really like single coil RSAs and I love my Oumier Wasp Nano.

Those look really nice. Is directvapor a good website to order from?

Also, what's the general consensus on clones of these mods? They seem to be pretty widespread.

Directvapor is a good place but id go straight to defiants website..ive bought 2 from there already. As for clones....STAY AWAY. They have many button issues causing auto fire amd can be dangerous.

I'm basically about to buy this mod haha. I've seen nothing but glowing reviews. I'm a little concerned about safety though. It doesn't look like there's a lock function on the mod.. What kind of precautions should one take regarding this?

Which are u about yo buy? Clone or auth? As any mod just use your best judgment. I have a few auths and never had an accident..cant say same for my clones tho

Just be aware that with the TS/DS there is no locking safety feature. Fantastic mods btw, I have one of each, they’re my favorite SQ’s. I think the TS is a bit more comfortable in the hand in spite of its added battery capacity.

I've actually been a little nervous about that lack of a lock. This is something that I'd want to carry around on a daily basis as a replacement for my pulse. I could buy a battery case if that's the only safe option.

If you’re looking for a mod to drop in a pocket and forget about until vaping time, honestly as much as it pains me to say (because I really, really like this mod), but it’s probably not your best choice. Removing the batteries after each use is going to get tedious most likely as it does require unscrewing two or three battery contacts and the bottle cover as well. Just food for thought.

Oof. I guess I won't be getting rid of the pulse just yet. I could always use it for my out and about vape though (or just quit nicotine lmao). Are there any two-battery squonkers in parallel of similar quality in that price range?

A gbox, modded with neomags for the cover and a nice silicone bottle, is a wonderous vape ;-)

I've been rocking the Pulse squonk for several months now. No complains
I just got my pulse in the mail and I bought the demon killer coils 48 pc 8in1. I’m mind boggled as to what cool to put in it. I’m going to use the 18650 and I don’t want anything going wrong. Any suggestions?

You should look up your battery's amp limit (under sustained discharge, not pulse). Then, if you plug your coil's resistance and your battery's peak voltage (probably 4.2V) into Ohm's law and solve for amps. If the number you get is less than the tolerance of your battery, you're good. I like to keep mine about 5 amps under the limit for safety.

On that pulse i only used a 20700 at like .15 ohms...and it was a champ

I don't mean to disrespect or contradict you because it is true that you can safely vape outside of the continuous discharge tolerance, but if they had to ask the question, I think it might be more prudent to have them build safely in case of any autofire mishaps.
(Note that I use 18650s and don't know the tolerances for 20700s.)

Whats unsafe of a build i used with a 20700? And no disrespect taken..i merely stated what i ran daily...with not 1 issue. Im all about learning too so this ohm tolerance on a battery of that nature was recommended to me buy a much more experienced vaper than I.

What is your specific battery?

But anyway, the other poster I'd using 18650s, which have a lower amp tolerance than 20700s. This would make a coil that's perfect safe on your mod very dangerous on theirs should it decide to autofire in a pocket or backpack. This kills the battery.

(Controlled 1860 explosion. You don't want that happening anywhere near you.)

Ok, so I looked up Mooch's battery test for your battery.
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/t...ults-overrated-but-a-good-30a-battery.798323/

It seems as though the amp limit on this battery is 30 amps. Most 18650s have a tolerance of 20 amps (a 50% increase in current tolerance!!!).

Going by Ohm's law and my rule of thumb of having 5 amps of wiggle room gives a minimum resistance of 0.168 ohms (operating at 30 amps gives a lower bound of exactly 0.14 ohms).

This means that you are absolutely right to say that you are vaping safely, but on a 20 amp cell, your minimum would equal 0.21 ohms. This is "safe" as long as there are no other problems, but as far as mechs are concerned, I much prefer to be very safe with regards to my builds.

I carry my DS in my pocket all the time. I don't remove the batteries. I simply unthread the contacts a little and leave the bottle plate in place. I've never had one thread out, I've never had it fire.

Honestly, if for some reason you told me that I could never put it in my pocket again it would still be my primary mod because it's really really good. I can't believe I had it sitting in its box for months before I realized that. I tried it once or twice and didn't love it so I bought a ton of other squonker mods. Whoops.

I say get a DS/TS, throw a super low resistance build in a Dead Rabbit, along with a couple of fresh VTC5A's. Be done with it and enjoy.
