Loving the RX200!

I've only had it for two days, but I love it. This is coming from an IPv3 Li. So much more comfortable to hold, and the battery life is much better running at 140 watts. I'll probably order another one just to keep around in case anything happens to this one! I only with I could get a Twisted Messes RDA that matched the Red/Black color scheme...

You might want to hold off getting another 1 since the RX200S is coming out (or already out). It has a bigger screen and is also supposed to have an updated 510 connector.

yeah, they'll come out with a new version, and then another, and then another... so having a backup of what is now an "old model" vape doesn't make much sense, especially a relatively swanky one like a Reuleaux. I have an RX200 and like it a lot too... but I don't need two :)

Ive had my RX200 for 3 or 4 months now, and love it to bits. Ive been meaning to get another one to keep around as a backup or just to have one, but the longer I have my first one, the less and less I think I need a backup. This thing is built like a tank. Ive dropped it, knocked it, thrown it around, bumped it all over the place and gotten it so hot it was just this side of molten, and nothing hurts it. If you can only have 1 mod, get an RX200.

I will be picking up an S model tho

I don't necessarily need the newest and best model out there. I like the red/black color scheme so if the new one doesn't have that, I'll likely not be interested. Plus I'm a cheap bastard. This one is plenty for me. I rocked the IPv3 Li since it's initial release, but it was never that comfortable to hold. That was pretty much the only reason I bought the RX200 and retired that one. Well - that and I got it for under $40.

I just ordered a second RX200 old school style for a backup.

I'm a latecomer to the RX200 and had no idea what I was missing. Got my first one just because I needed a mod that would accommodate a 25mm atty with no overhang and run all day without a charge or battery change.

I love it and the prices are getting better and better everyday if you are not concerned with the latest and greatest, it makes the original that much less expensive!

hey, this is my first post here! A friend just gave me a rx200 to help me quit smoking. I'm a bit confused on the settings that it should be at and if there are any particular juices you guys recommend for this particular model? I tried searching but I'm not familiar with the vape jargon quite yet. So dumb it down for me please ha

Welcome to VU Dave,

What kind of atomizer do you have on it?

What atomizer are you using on it. Are you using it in power mode or temperature control (since your a new vaper, I'll assume Power mode). If you give us more details, we can make some suggestions. Good Luck on quitting!

The atomizer is a smok tfv4 mini with a micro stc2 coil. Also, how often should the coils be changed?

Change the coils when they start to malfunction or flavor goes off

Sounds good. Thank you guys for the rapid response. I've tried quitting cold turkey and switching to chew but hopefully this is the solution I need

This is what I found. I'll give you my thoughts, then the specs. Since it's a Stainless Steel coil it can be run in either power mode or in Temperature Control (SS is very versatile wire). As to how often to change it, that is hard to answer. There are variables such as what type of juice you use (some kill coils quicker than others), your taste buds, etc. The simple answer is when it either starts to taste bad/different or puts out less vapor. You will probably know when it's time (Hope that makes sense).

Here's the specs:
Smok TFV4 TF-STC2 Stainless Steel Dual Coil Head Features:

  • Resistance: 0.25ohm
  • Optimal Temperature: 350~550 Fahrenheit
  • Wattage Range: 40~70W
  • Patented Stainless Steel Dual Coil Head
  • Separate Chamber Design
  • 100% Organic Cotton
  • Temperature Sensing Capability
  • No Burnt Taste
  • Stainless Steel Construction
Cheers,
Steve

Right now I have it on power mode. Is there a preference between power mode vs temperature mode?
Well I only use TC now. When I first started vaping, I only used power mode. The differences are imo:

Power Mode is easier for a new vaper to use. One less setting to worry about. Power mode is just straight power. Meaning if you set it to 50 watts, as long as you hold down the fire button, the mod will keep supplying 50 watts to the coil. In the end being a new vaper I would get my feet wet in power mode.

TC is a little more complicated. The plus is you set the temperature you want and once the mod senses it's there it varies the power to keep you there (when set up right, it's a very consistent vape). In TC you set the temp (controls how hot the vape gets), set the power (controls how fast it gets to temp), and have to make sure you have it set for the particular wire you are using.

I found TC underwhelming for my style of vaping - don't really need it.

Some swear by it. Others need it to avoid dry hits when pushing build limits.

OP, if you think the Rx is comfy to hold, consider checking out the iStick 200w TC. I like it more then my RX.

It's not about dry hits for me, it's about consistency. Your vape doesn't keep getting hotter the longer you hold down the fire button. It's consistent every time. Not all mods handle TC equally. I use DNA200's which imo is the best TC chip out. I've noticed most people that don't care for TC aren't using a DNA200 (I don't think it's a coincidence). YMMV

Steve

A lot of people think Isticks are cheap and corny, but I love my 60 W Isticks and have definitely considered getting the 200W

For me the advantage of TC is indeed consistency. I chain vape, and in wastage mode, what generally happens is my first vape is perfect, or a little cool, second is warmer, due to the coils being hot, third even hotter, and so on. The inconsistent vape is essentially solved in TC as it regulates the vape to stay the same temp every time.

That's how I look at it at least.

I have to admit, I never considered an iStick until the 200w.

My first regulated mod was an Istick 50W which I got because I needed a cheap, built in battery, low wattage regulated mod for a beater that might get lost.

Much to my surprise I loved it, and bought two of the 60s because they were so cheap and because of the great performance on the 50. Had them since December and use all three pretty much everyday and they get abused badly.

I only got the FX200 because I started vaping the Boreas when it came out and needed better battery life for a dual coil atty.

Honestly - I've had a couple of iSticks in the past and that experience really turned me off from ever buying another one. I had nothing but problems. That was a while ago, and I'm sure the 200w TC is way better than what I had, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

A guy at work is getting out of vaping and offered me all of his stuff for $100. One of his mods is a Reuleaux DNA200, but he also has a few RDA's, a couple tanks, at least one other mod, and some DIY juice supplies. I'm thinking about taking him up on that offer....

It's the only side-benefit to the stupid FDA crap - the market is being flooded with products trying to beat the drop-dead deadline and there are bargains galore

I think I'm going to. He's getting an inventory of everything he has and is going to fill me in on Monday.
