Mail (usps) age verification

Hey all, wondering how this process works. Has anyone else done this or picked this option? Just placed an order with eciggity, first one since the age verification fda crap kicked in. Rather than give up personal info for a few bucks extra was the ability to select age verification upon delivery. Is this something the mailman does when delivering or does it mean the package gets held up at the post office until someone goes down there to sign it?

yes the mail man will scan your id on delivery. you sign a card that the vendor receives sometime electronically from usps. if they can't delivery in one attempt you can setup a local pickup at a branch

Oh ok. Well hopefully a visual id and signature will be enough, not sure about letting them scan my id. All they need is the dob, same as a regular brick n mortar I'd think. It'd be much less pia if they're able to do it on delivery rather than have to make an out of the way trip to the post office.

Last time I got a delivery with age verification they just looked at my ID. but the mail man was also new so that may have something to do with it.

The one time I had to do that for an order was from My Vaporstore, as that's their standard method of shipping for age verification now. Mailman didn't scan anything, just had me scribble on the screen and that was it. It might vary between postal workers, but I have a feeling if you look like an adult, producing ID won't be an issue. The only time I've had to produce ID (and it wasn't for vape stuff) is when I've had to pick something up at the post office so they could verify it was really me walking in to get the mail.

Pretty hard for people who travel for work. May have to rely more on Ebay if it's really coming to this.

Not every vendor requires that (at this time most do not) but if you're not home, they'll leave an attempted delivery notice, and you'll have to go down to your local post office to sign and pick it up. Still takes up a bunch of time.

Thought I'd update with something interesting. I called my local post office and asked how they typically handle the adult signature deliveries. Told them I was expecting a package from a vape store and the clerk was surprised. She said 'oh, umm, that's interesting. I didn't know we were still allowing vaping items to ship through our service." She went on to tell me that she remembers a memo being passed out around 6-7 months ago saying vape shipments were no longer to be sent via usps. Given that 8/16 was only a couple months ago it sounds like they had significant forewarning if what she said was accurate, well before the fda deeming date.

Given the large number of packages I've received via USPS over the last several months, it's clear no one read that memo.

That's what I figured as well, who knows. My usps also won't allow home delivery of packages if the driver has to back up at all, it needs to be a circular drive so they can get in and out without backing/turning around. Despite my place having this feature the post master for the local office has still banned their postmen from delivering to my address (aside from my mailbox which is on the main road) and threatened their job. Things are a bit wonky in the back country apparently. lol

Mail carrier here. They simply look at your ID, verify your who the package is intended for and that your the proper age. Then when he scans the package as delivered the scanner will ask him if he checked id and all that.

That's it.

Edit: if you're not home to sign for it they will leave you pink slip to pick it up.

Well the good news. Mail delivered the package and all they needed was a glance at the id and a signature. That went much more smoothly than I expected after talking to the person at the post office. The bad news, eciggity sent the wrong item.

I will say this though, eciggity's customer service has been great. They're quick to respond and eager to sort things out. I'm not sure how big of a staff they have, Vince has been the person I've dealt with over there. Really nice guy. Sent him a photo of the invoice with the item I was supposed to be getting along with the package of the item I received and they're shipping the correct item out right away. In a perfect world there would be no mistakes but I give them props for handling things and sorting them out. Customer service rarely exists these days and makes a huge difference in the overall experience in my opinion.
