During Activision's second quarter earnings call and investor Q&A, the company's CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed that the bulk of Bungie's focus has shifted to the upcoming Destiny sequel.
"The majority of the team at Bungie is actually focused entirely on creating Destiny 2," Hirshberg said during the call when asked for an update on Destiny's future.
Hirshberg didn't elaborate more on what is in the works for the game, but he reconfirmed that the sequel is on track for a release in 2017, as Activision previously stated earlier this year.
Before the upcoming Destiny sequel releases, however, the first game will see its next major expansion from Bungie later this year with Rise of Iron. Hirshberg noted that pre-orders for Rise of Iron are ahead of Destiny's 2015 expansion, The Taken King.
