Mech mods

i apologize in advance... Although I've been vaping 5+years, I'm a simple girl, and don't change much, so I'm out of the loop on newer things (I've used the same flavor for almost three years!).

I use vv, and have for a long time. MY mech mods were ego and Bolt!! I know that they differ now (is it the wattage?). I use a 1.8 ohm atty at 3.9 volts. I'm wondering what my atty would push on a mech mod.

I ask, because I often see good deals on mech mods, but I don't know if they would work for me whith the Attys I'm currently using.

Well, it depends on which type of mech you're using. A single 18650/dual 18650 parallel mech at 1.8 ohms would run 9.8 watts with a fully charged battery. For a dual 18650 series mod it would be 39.2 watts.

I use simple evod 1.8 ohms at 3.9. I also would use 18650 batteries.

I had tried (and succeeded!) in building a few coils, but I'm a grab and go, I like it simple.
You think I might get a similar vape with a mech?

Hello Laura,
Changing to a different mech mod will not significantly change quality or characteristics of the vapor, unless you're switching from single/parallel to a series battery set up.
Characteristics of your Vape will be mostly decided by your choice of RDA/RTA/RBA and built/prebuilt coil that you will put in there.
I am postitive that any decent quality mech mod with a good quality RTA and a properly build coil and wick will be a dramatic improvement compared to ego because once you start building there is two limitations only: your battery, and your imagination.

As long as the center pin protrudes well, and isn't prone to retreating enough to cause a short, it's fine. A good many (though certainly not all) RTA's are just unsafe to use on a hybrid.

This and it is just a no brainer to use one with a center pin. No worries then.
Most all of the exploding mods reports have involved hybrid tops with tanks on them.

And they have retrofit kits for the NC and the new NC also has a center pin.

I have the Fat Daddy upgrade kit on my NC, but still have only used my RDA on it.

Good point. There are still some RDAs and RTAs around with non protruding 510, but it's mostly tanks with prebuilt coils that lack that sufficient 510 protrusion(Kanger). I will agree with you that hybrids are not a good choice for someone new to mech mods because of the lack of understanding how it all works.

If I recall correctly, most of the hybrid mech accidents have happened with an Artic tank being used, but I never suggest an RTA for someone just starting with a mech unless they have someone who has experience with them around to help keep them safe. The last thing we need is more accidents in the news.

...all "exploding mods reports" have degenerated idiots as users and shitty battery as combination, in common, not so much RTAs. I am going to curl up in a fetal position and cry now because you had to mention that fat daddy "upgrade" for poor powerless Cricket.

LOL, the main reason I went with it was the knurled edges on the caps so I don't need a coin to loosen/tighten them to change out the batteries.

Maybe consider a provari. Pricey, but very well made, tube style, variable wattage or variable voltage, cover your power range and take 18650's or even some of the shorter batteries.

The pin on my main RTA is plenty long enough, I do check it regularly to make sure it doesn't recede after being taken off the mod.

That's what came to mind too.
I used mine from 1/2011 to 6/2015 with 1.5 to 1.8 stuffs without issue.
