Moonshot advice

Just got a moonshot today.

Wow-a pain in the ass to build compared to about everything else i have (ranging from many rda's and rdta's) but i was expecting that as per reviews-they weren't wrong lol

I git duel .22mm kanthal coils running .21 and been vaping at around 60-70 watts. HOT is an understatement...not the vaoe but the tank. No way i can use the provided drip tip-have to put a drip tip on it as it would burn my lips otherwise. Any advice on how to build it so it doesn't get so hot? Prob need higher gauge wire i suspect, but its all i got currently.

Anyways, flavor has been decent as is vaoor production. Reserving my real opinions until i have used it for awhile as initially i liked the griffin 25 but have since changed my mind in that lol.

Never built on the moonshot since a tank capable of 200 watts with only a 2ml juice capacity seemed like a cruel joke to me, but if possible maybe try moving the coils down a bit further. That often seems to take some of the heat away.

Oh, and the Boreas is the tank of the year if you're looking for another option.

Funny how opinions are different. Underwhelmed by my griffin, has good points but flavor is...dull and the vape is "wattery" is the best I can describe.

Anyways, found some high gauge wire built some new coils on the moonshot coming in at .91, stays cooler and gives a nice vape 40-60 watts. Just because you can vape at 200 doesn't mean you have to, but i get it. Just wanted something other than a dripper, small, and decent to vape on for my drive to work and back. Trying to avoid pre built coils as the changes ahead with the FDA Leave me skeptical about availability. Got the rda coming monday for my clieto and then all the tanks I have (and use) left with pre built anything will be my crown.

Honestly the moonshot on my vtc mini is a nice small package.

My favorite build on the moonshot is a 2.5mm diameter 26g clapton (30-40g wrap) in 316L with 6 wraps. At 60-65 watts, it provides a pretty strong rda like experience without being too hot. Regardless though, chain vaping does make the moonshot get pretty hot.

I like my Moonshot, but I absolutely cannot see how you could build a 200w build in there that is pleasant to vape. Tried a 24g clapton build and tank got super hot and a bit hotter vape than I like. I have had good success with a 8ish wrap 26g kanthal build at about 45-50w. Great flavor with this build in this tank, but not as "high power" vape as I can get in RDA's.

I agree the Griffin left much to be desired for me. Doesn't wick 20/80 very well and even with 50/50, flavor is muted much more than I hoped for.

Seems a lot of people agree that the griffin lacks in flavor...how did this tank get so much love?

I would highly recommend you check out our griffin wicking tutorial it improves the flavor dramatically.
And as for the 200w thing...yeah...no...I said the same thing about the tornado being advertised as able to do 300w...ridiculous really, imo

Post a link. Make me a believer.

Edit: have seen it before. Not different from what I do, but I use cotton, not rayon. Any ideas with cotton?

Also, any wicking methods that take less than 13 minutes?

It's the air channels that are the most important point in that video. It works the same with cotton, but you would use slightly less to compensate for cotton expanding. Also, brushing the cotton out with a fine tipped tweezer helps. But mainly those air channels.

Moonshot on Noisy Cricket 26G 3-3.5 mm ID @ .40-.50 Ohm

Moonshot on Copper SMPL 26G 2-2,5 mm ID @ .17-.25 works well for me. Warm and wet but doesn't get hot. I am running on LG only, cotton for wick.

Go to the steam engine and play around with coils/ Gauge. Pay attention to the heat index. 24 G should work as well.
